Since 1931, our building has had many different events and services. I’d LOVE to display a timeline in the entrance to preserve the history of our beautiful building which is history for the town.

Outside verses inside ceremony. It's a very common conversation! Both are beautiful and have pro's and con's. Really it does depend on the couples vision of their wedding day. 100% and we are very excited that we are soon going to be able to offer both!! 🥂🎉

Yesterday, I read a post from a national wedding company specifically asking guests their biggest annoyances over the years ... it was an interesting read. One that was mentioned over and over from pervious wedding guests, was baking in the bright sun and not being able to enjoy the ceremony due to the heat and brightness.

How can this be fixed? Learn/ask where the sun location will be during the ceremony... adjust the ceremony time. Offer sunglasses to the guests... however, know that you and/or your fiancé along with the wedding party might still be squinting. Ask if you can have a different ceremony location that has open shade. Inquire if a tent would be able to be rented. Or have an indoor ceremony.

A little history about the 1931 venue… did you know that the American Legion shared the Old City Hall building and use to host dinners in the venues main event space?

Food…. We ALL LOVE FOOD and gathering around a meal is a centuries old tradition.

Depending on the type of event you’re having, it’s better to have your food catered. Depending on what your favorite food is … can depend on who caters.

Big questions to ask…
🤔 Can the person you want to cater, handle the order to be done at the same time?

🤔 Do they deliver / Will it be hot when arriving?

🤔 Do they provide all of the containers, warmers, serving utensils, etc?

🤔 Do they provide someone to set it up?

If the answer is no, delegate a cousin or family friend to be in charge… they often love being able to help. Or ask the venue or coordinator for alternative options.

🤔 thinking about having an event/party/wedding? How many guests do you think will attend? 140 or less 🥳 This space is perfect!

There are other beautiful locations that are able to hold 250+++ peeps with similar vibes and are double the cost.

Tip: 🫶🏻 When planning your guest list, just know that 30 to 40% will not attend. If 200 are invited, the likelihood of 140 or less attending is very probable.

👊🏻 Why is this important? Lots of reasons…
🌟 Selecting a venue that is comfortable… not so big that a blow horn is needed or cramped.
🌟 Catering and drinks (of any kind)… some caters will have a dollar minimum or a person minimum. Either way it’s great to know when having a conversation.
🌟 Left overs… for … days… some food does not freeze well.
🌟Decor for the tables… depending on the level of decor each table can cost between $15 to $150+ Planning for everyone to attend, then not show, that’s a $100 to $1,000 if you had to purchase everything.
🌟 Additional time setting and arranging the tables.
🌟 Above all… will you be able to ENJOY your guests when there is a higher guest count? As the host of the event, is your expectation to be a to have a quick, ‘hi there’ or would you like to have a 2-5 minute conversation? I know for most events… party to wedding, guests like to say more than, It’s great! You look great! 😊

Progress on our additional event space is coming together! ETA … Early June 2024

This new space will be fantastic addition to our beautiful venue space for weddings OR could be rented separately for smaller parties… birthday, holidays, celebrations of life, retirement parties, baby shower, etc.

Why is cutting the cake a wedding tradition?? This is the couple’s first together activity, a symbol of the couple's love and commitment to one another and that they are willing to share everything, including their food and drink, for the rest of their lives.

What if you don’t like cake? No worries. Additional ideas: cheese cake, cookies, donuts, tiramisu, or something that is not as sugary sweet.

Before going to tour the venue; ask these questions.
🌟 Do you have this date _____ available or any around that date, if you are flexible.
🌟 Ask if they have tables, chairs, use of kitchen included or if its extra.
🌟Ask what the payment process is and/or options

This will help you narrow down options before going and allow you to think of other questions while you are turning the venue.
