Last Friday of Ramadan thoughts. Link to this Quran that I received as a gift is in my stories. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do Alhamdulillah. Reciting the Quran in Arabic has IMMENSE benefits. However, if a doctor writes you a prescription in German or Chinese and you keep reading that prescription, but don’t know how many pills to take when and for how long, you might not get the healing you need. Similarly if your car breaks down and the manual is in Japanese. Even if you can read the instruction manual cover to cover, you won’t be able to diagnose and fix the problem until you understand it. As non-Arabic speakers, we should try to understand the meaning of the Quran first with a trained teacher and then continue learning for the rest of our lives.

Surprise at the end! I had two friends over for lunch today and made @blendofspice famous NY halal cart, @hungrypaprikas batata harra and @flourandspiceblog flan. Today on World Hijab Day, the one line that keeps reminding me to love my hijab is that “Whenever a Muslim woman is closest to Allah, she is in hijab.” In prayer, at umrah, hajj, AND when she is buried. Someone one said, “Come to the masjid vertically before you are brought there horizontally.” Similarly, let us try to wear hijab as our choice now before someone makes us wear it when we are buried.
No judgment or shade on anyone else. Hijab is a journey. We can be at different points. Some days it is hard. With Islamophobia on the rise again, some days it can also be a little scary. But most days it comes easy once it becomes part of your identity. I feel incomplete without my hijab. May Allah give us all istiqmaah. So no judgment sisters ❤️. Just wanted to share this thought that has stuck with me for years.

They sometimes have promo codes online and also pass out small treats along the way. I still think it was a little pricey but soha said it was the best day ever lol so it was worth it.
