🎨🌊 Calling All Artists! Help Us Transform Camden with a Stunning Mural! 🌊🎨

The Currituck County Arts Council is teaming up with The Kraken Coffeehouse to bring a new mural to life on the front and left side of their Camden location – and we want YOU to be part of it!

Here’s your chance to showcase your creativity in a high-visibility spot in the heart of our community. The mural will feature rising waves and Kraken tentacles, creating a unique and dramatic visual that will be seen by all who visit.

Prize: $1,650 upon completion + a dedicated team to help bring your design to life!

🔹 Who can enter? Artists 18+ who are current residents of Currituck, Chowan, Pasquotank, Dare, Camden, or surrounding counties.

🔹 Deadline: December 6, 2024

We’re looking for designs that are original, creative, and align with the theme of the Kraken and ocean waves. To learn more and submit your design, visit our website this Friday at 10pm for full details and submission guidelines.

Bonus: Once the mural begins, we’ll be hosting a community “paint party” and a reveal celebration — with proceeds from the event going to support flood relief in Western North Carolina! 🌟

🎉Exciting news continues! We've hit a total of $1,470 raised through raffle tickets and t-shirt sales! Today was amazing as I got to hand over checks to the Food Bank of the Albemarle and the SPCA of Northeastern NC. Check out these cuties up for adoption! Beloved Haven will get theirs later this week. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed!🫶

Reposting this reminder about just how special this event is . . .

28 years ago Elizabeth hosted its first Health Expo. Here is an article from the 2nd one held in 1997. It was also a free event with a raffle that benefited a local non profit. It even had an iridologist 👀! Far Out! If you know the people mentioned in the article feel free to invite them to the event! We would love to honor their work, passion that paved the way for holistic health and education in our community!

As temperatures soar this Saturday, it's crucial to recognize signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

🥤 Stay hydrated with water or electrolyte drinks.
🕶️ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, sunblock and a hat.
🌳 🎪❄️Take breaks in the shaded areas or visit a local shop nearby with a/c.

🌡️ Symptoms include . . .

🥵heavy sweating
🥵cool or clammy skin
🥵dizziness or feeling faint
🥵nausea or vomiting
🥵headache
🥵muscle cramps
🥵rapid weak or strong heartbeat

🌬Treat Symptoms immediately . . .

🥶loosen any tight or restrictive clothing
🥶find shade or go to a cooler location (or indoors w/ a/c)
