Now that the Christmas craziness is over it’s time to look toward the new year! I’m so very excited for our new dance session and would like to invite you to join us.

New route, same great parade! Thank you Downtown Elizabethton for such a wonderful event. I’m so very proud of our dancers and their families!

Yesterday we celebrated Christmas and no more chemo! Great food and fun times with the best dance family a teacher could ask for. My love to all of our families and a special thanks to Caitlin Brewer for pulling off such a big event! The dancers and their families made ornaments and beaded jewelry while snacking on lots of great food. 💚💚💚

Tonight we have local Hampton legend performing Jiggy Ray's Downtown Pizzeria! I will have a table set up to take any donations for our local blanket drive. Any and all cold weather gear and supplies are appreciated! Blankets, heaters, propane stoves, hats and gloves will be helpful for our community. Financial donations accepted as well. These items will be distributed in the greater Hampton area. Come out for some great music and food!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our blanket drive! ♥️♥️♥️ This is the first of the donations and we delivered them to Hampton Elementary School TN today to be distributed in the community. Our hearts are full of gratitude but it’s going to take more to get through the upcoming cold. It’s a marathon, not a sprint to recovery for our area.

We need a break from all this devastation. Here’s some of our dancers performing at Covered Bridge Days in downtown Elizabethton in September. It’s great to see that our covered bridge still stands 💚☘️💚

Cold weather is coming to our area. So many have lost their homes and belongings. Many are still without power. We’re doing a blanket drive to get these out into our community in Hampton, Tn. This area was very hard hit by the flooding and we are doing all we can to help serve our community. These will be distributed to families in need.

Hurricane Helene has devastated our area but that’s not stopping us! Our studio is fine and dry!!! Classes resume today. We will dance on!

I did have to be evacuated from my home. Our little hometown was hit extremely hard. But those angels that are my dance families came through, working tirelessly to help us clean up. They brought food, water, and lots of love. I couldn’t feel more blessed and loved. Thank you 💚.

Angels walk amongst us.

I’ve seen more humanity and kindness in the last few days than I’ve seen in a long time. An army of dance families and strangers descended here yesterday to help us clean up. Giving selflessly of themselves and their time to help others. We couldn’t be more grateful.

Our local community hasn’t just pitched in and helped. They’ve given food, water, handshakes and hugs, prayers, love, and more. They showed up with chainsaws, strong arms, and even stronger hearts.

Carloads of people offering assistance from all over, just hoping to help relieve the burden:
A med student from Johnson City.
A carpenter from Elizabethton.
A retired canine officer.
My dancers and their families.
My own family.

Seeing people working tirelessly around us is wonderful and overwhelming in such an amazing way.

If you want to help then please donate to our local fire department Hampton Valley Forge TN Volunteer Fire Dept. This ensures our community gets the help they need.

We have seen the National Guard helicopters coming in to survey and rescue. But there’s been no other assistance here. This community has
been the ones feeding, supporting, and supplying each other, giving the shirts off their back to take care of others in the midst of their own suffering and cares.

We are strong and proud people here in southern Appalachia.

There’s a reason our dance school has the word Appalachian in the name. This is home. Our roots are here as well even if some weren’t born here!
I try to connect with the dancers as to why it’s important to be proud to be from Appalachia….and to be an Appalachian Irish Dancer 💚☘️💚.

We have had an amazing first month here at AIDC! Our new Fall Session is in full swing, we did a smalll performance for StoryWander Travel, then capped it off with our First Place win at the Appalachian Fair’s dance competition!
