STMA vs Blaine Football

The knights and Bengals clashed at Blaine for the start of the 2023 football season. The Bengals went all out to entertain the crowd with a parachute drop, dance line and marching band. The first half belonged to the Bengals but the second half is when the knights started to click scoring 2 touchdowns. Our boys had a shot to win in the closing minutes but the final drive was stopped short. Bengals win 17-14

Champs!!!!!
Knights win 71-70!!!!

The knights had a strong, all around game, leading by 21 points at one point in the first half. Hopkins came out in the second half with an aggressive full court pressure and closed the scoring gap. The final two minutes were exciting as both teams traded baskets. The game wasn't decided until the final seconds of the game.
STMA used a balanced scoring attack and tough rebounding to seal the game. Congratulations !!!!!!

STMA vs EP Semi Finals

STMA girls advance to the championship game vs Hopkins on Saturday. The Knights used a tough defense and a strong offensive performance by Senior Tessa Johnson, to take control of the game early in the first half. The Knights cruised to a 55-40 win.

STMA vs CHAMPLIN PARK

Both teams had success on offense and defense but tonights game was all about field position. This was an evenly fought battle as both teams used their kicking game to pin the opposition deep in their own territory.
The Knights took the ball late in the fourth quarter and scored the winning touchdown.

Minnetonka

I don’t know if they award game balls at the high school level, but if they did it would have to go to the defensive unit from tonight's game. Two defensive touchdowns scored in one game is a feat I can’t remember in all the years I’ve covered the team. The Knights held the number 10 ranked Skippers to a field goal and a touch down early in the game. Offensive miscues by the skippers led to two scores by the Knights defense. The first score was on a pitch by the skippers that was recovered and run in for a touchdown by the knights. The second defensive score was from a pass that was thrown ,under duress, backwards and scooped up for the score. The special teams kept the Skippers from getting good field position with deep kickoffs and booming punts. The offense came alive in the second half to score a touchdown and a field goal. Overall a good outing for the Knights.

Weather was the biggest factor in this game. Time and time again promising drives ended with fumbles due to wet conditions. Welcome to football in Minnesota.

The Knights scored a big win against Lake conference rival Wayzata. The offense and defense played inspired ball in the knights first win of the 2022 season.

STMA Football Season Opener

The knights put together some impressive scoring drives but succumbed to a well coached team in the second half. I look forward to an exciting game at Centennial next week.
