What a busy and exciting fall it has been for CSE!

We hosted the 24th Annual Baltimore Running Festival on October 19th, traveled down to Ocean City, MD to put on the Inaugural Ocean City Running Festival on November 2nd, and finished strong with The Bay Bridge Run on November 10th!

We hosted the 23rd Annual Baltimore Running Festival on October 14th, traveled down to Ocean City, MD to put on the Inaugural Ocean City Running Festival on October 28th, and finished strong with The Bay Bridge Run yesterday! Congratulations to all participants of these three awesome events! Next up- the Celtic Solstice on December 16th!

BIG NEWS! The Bay Bridge Run is Back!
Corrigan Sports Event Will Permit Participants to Cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Foot in 2021 and Beyond!

Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) and Sean Ryan Sports Enterprises (SRSE) have teamed up to resurrect the annual footrace across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Run starting this Fall. The event experienced a three-year hiatus following the 2018 edition due to bridge maintenance in 2019 and Covid-19 in 2021. Former event owner Ironman® informed the state of Maryland in April that they would no longer produce the event which they had purchased in 2016.
CSE received formal approval from the Queen Anne’s County Board of Commissioners in late May to launch the Bay Bridge Run on October 31, 2021. Anne Arundel County on the western shore provided a written endorsement to Queen Anne’s for the agreement.
The Bay Bridge Run offers the only opportunity to cross the bridge on foot. Open to both runners and walkers, the event takes place on the eastbound span, which is closed to vehicles. Participants start on the west end of the bridge in Anne Arundel County and cross the 4.5-mile-long bridge before finishing in Chesapeake Bay Business Park in Queen Anne’s County on the eastern shore. Buses transport participants between outlying parking areas and the start and finish points.
“We are honored to assume the responsibility of the Bay Bridge Run,” said Lee Corrigan, President of Corrigan Sports Enterprises. “The Bay Bridge is such an important landmark to the State of Maryland and we look forward to showcasing it in a new light to those who chose to run or walk with us.”
Sean Ryan, who has served as operations manager of the event since its inception in 2014 stated, “The production of this event requires an extraordinary level of cooperation and coordination by county, state, and federal agencies. I look forward to continuing the partnership to ensure a safe, well conducted event under CSE’s ownership.”
The origin of footraces across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge dates back to 1975 when a Towson Boy Scout leader asked Governor Marvin Mandel if his troop could walk across the bridge during a maintenance project. This eventually gave rise to the Bay Bridge Walk which was produced annually by the state until 2006.
Corrigan Sports looks forward to conducting a safe, fun, and exciting event. Our plan is to take the best elements of past renditions and add some of the typical CSE trademarks to make the run/walk entertaining and enjoyable for all involved.

Corrigan Sports recently hosted the free virtual GET UP and GET ACTIVE Challenge. We challenged youth to log at least 30 minutes of physical activity for at least 10 sessions during any two-week period in May. Everyone who submitted their activity summaries received a printable certificate and an option for a finisher’s medal.
Nearly 100 youth from across the country took the challenge by riding their bikes, doing jumping jacks, and running around their neighborhoods, for example. We’d like to thank everyone for their participation and we look forward to our continued engagement with youth in the future.

Exciting News for Corrigan Sports!

On April 24th Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, along with leading scientists, business leaders, and public health experts introduced a plan for a gradual, safe and effective reopening of the state. The “Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery’ transitioned the governor’s Coronavirus Response team of doctors and public health experts into a broader Coronavirus Recovery Team.

Lee Corrigan, president of Corrigan Sports Enterprises was invited to join the prestigious advisory group which includes Dick Cass (president of the Baltimore Ravens), T.J. Brightman (senior vice president & chief financial officer of the Baltimore Orioles) Terry Hasseltine (executive director of Maryland’s Sports Commission) and Steve Stenerson (president and & CEO of US Lacrosse).
