Our Clean Out Your Closet Challenge to benefit Success in Style has come to a close, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude and awe at the incredible outpouring of support from our Columbia, Ellicott City, and Catonsville communities. What began as an initiative on International Women's Day blossomed into a powerful demonstration of generosity and care.
From the outset, you came forward to donate clothing, jewelry, shoes, and handbags. Week after week, the donations poured in, each one a testament to the spirit of giving that runs deep within our communities.

Meet sweet and radiant Eleni, a Class of 2024 standout from Howard High School and a cherished member of our photography family! It's been such a joy watching Eleni grow through the years, from our CHASEing Cancer Away Family Session Fundraiser we hosted 9 years ago, to now, as she prepares to graduate from high school!
Eleni is not just a beautiful face, she shines with academics, is a talented athlete and a compassionate soul. She's achieved Honor Roll status, is a member of Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, obtained her CNA certification, and is all set to pursue a nursing major at Towson University. One of her favorite parts of high school was being part of the volleyball team where she found great camaraderie and developed awesome friendships. Her commitment to organizations like Best Buddies throughout her 4 years at Howard High School truly exemplifies her heart of gold.
Despite the weather's attempt to dampen our spirits, Eleni and her mom, Stacy, brought positive energy and fun to her shoot. Whether we were in my studio or venturing out onto Main Street, Eleniโs sweet smile had the ability to brighten even the grayest of skies. Her radiant spirit truly made the day unforgettable, every moment was a treasure.

Brigid Wethington | 47 years old | Interior Designer and Yogi
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing fun and beautiful Brigid as part of my 40 Over 40 Project, and let me tell you, it was an experience filled with laughter and inspiration!
Brigid is not just your average interior designer; she's a powerhouse of talent and passion. With a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing from Towson University, alongside a Certificate in Interior Design from Maryland Institute College of Art, her journey into the world of design began with a solid foundation in both business acumen and creative flair.
Brigid has more than 16 years of experience in the field, specializing in transforming spaces through kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, basement overhauls, and stunning home additions. Her talents don't stop there. Brigid has recently found a new passion with assisting clients in building custom homes, adding another dimension to her already illustrious career. Aside from her remarkable design career, Brigid is also a devoted yogi. She recently completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training from The Yoga Center of Columbia, Maryland, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her wellness journey. Her commitment to yoga extends beyond personal practice; she's now sharing her passion by teaching yoga to the staff and administration at Howard Community College as part of their Wellness Initiative, and soon she'll be leading Gentle Yoga sessions at The Yoga Center of Columbia. Her love for yoga led her on an unforgettable two-week retreat to Northern India, where she immersed herself in the culture and spirituality of the region. From exploring the serene city of Rishikesh nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas to visiting the abandoned Beatles Ashram, her journey was nothing short of transformative.

Being 47 can be such a treat when it comes to self-love and self-care! It's like Iโve hit this magical point where I can really start to appreciate myself and all that I am. Iโve learned to prioritize my own well-being, and that's such a powerful feeling. Iโm more aware of what makes me feel good, whether it's treating myself to a spa day, indulging in my favorite hobbies, or simply taking the time to relax and unwind. Plus, Iโve figured out what doesn't serve me, and Iโm more confident in setting boundaries to protect my peace. It's like Iโm finally giving myself the love and care I deserve, and that's a beautiful thing!

The most valuable lesson I've learned so far is the practice of celebrating others' joys and successes, which has been deeply influenced by my experiences as a mother, wife, interior designer, and yoga teacher. As a mother, I've learned to find joy in my children's successes and happiness, even when it means sacrificing my own desires. I've learned to celebrate their achievements as if they were my own, and this has brought a new level of fulfillment to my role as a parent.
In my role as a wife, celebrating my partner's joys and accomplishments has taught me to support them wholeheartedly and to find happiness in our shared experiences. It's about realizing that our individual successes are intertwined and that by uplifting each other, we strengthen our bond and create a more harmonious partnership.
As an interior designer, celebrating the creativity and talent of others in my field has influenced my approach to work. Instead of viewing them as competition, I see them as inspirations, and their work motivates me to improve and innovate in my own designs. This mindset has not only enhanced my professional growth but has also enriched my relationships within the design community.
Overall, celebrating others' joys and successes has taught me that true happiness comes from sharing in the joy of others, whether it's in my roles as a mother, wife, or interior designer, or in any other aspect of my life. It's a lesson that has brought me immense fulfillment and has helped me cultivate deeper connections with those around me.

Giving love freely and without judgment allows me to create positive and meaningful connections with others. By being open to receiving love, I can also experience the joy and warmth that comes from being cared for and supported by those around me. This reciprocal exchange of love strengthens bonds and fosters a sense of unity and belonging.
Forgiving easily is another important aspect of leaving a positive mark on the world. Holding onto grudges or resentments only serves to create barriers between people. By practicing forgiveness, I can let go of negative feelings and move forward with a sense of peace and understanding. This not only benefits me personally but also contributes to building a more compassionate and empathetic society.
Finally, recognizing that we are all connected reminds me of the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. By understanding that our actions have ripple effects that can impact others, I can strive to live in a way that uplifts and supports those around me. The best thing about getting older is being patient, and kind to myself. Knowing that itโs okay to not have to be perfect, or meet other peopleโs expectations all the time. Also, reminding myself to slow down when I feel overwhelmed, that life can wait if it needs to. I also don't judge myself as harshly as I used to. I am more comfortable setting boundaries, and saying, no, appropriately. I no longer feel the need to please everyone at my own expense.

Nothing has taught me more about the value of life than losing my closest family members and my best friend.. I lost my father when I was 16yrs, my mother a few years later, my closest sister in 2013, and my best friend in December 2022. When I lost my father, I remember asking myself, what would become of me. I knew I would forever be at the mercy of well wishers, people who would have to be generous enough to care for my well being which included not just the basic needs, but also education, mentorship and guidance. Lucky for me, my extended family was there for us and stepped in to support me and my siblings. It took a village to raise us. I am who I am today, because of the generosity and selflessness of my wider family. I couldn't have made it in life without their love and support. Itโs something I carry with me everyday. A constant reminder that everyone is capable of succeeding if they are given the chance or opportunity.

Having been raised at the mercy and generosity of others, I have always wanted to help people. I try to stay humble, to have empathy, to be kind, and to be as supportive as I can be. I believe that everyone, given a chance, can succeed. In life, you only need one person to believe in you. As such, I have found myself pursuing careers that are in line with supporting the underserved community, people that donโt often get the consideration, and resources they need to succeed. I love lifting people up, giving them hope, and encouraging them to work hard. I always want everyone to feel that they are worthy of success.

Cooking and hosting people. Given the option, I could live in my kitchen. I love to cook. I feel that the best way to express my love for others is through cooking and serving them food and tea. The excitement of people coming over, creating menus, buying table decor, setting the table with fruit and flowers, fills me with so much joy. I love to see people happy and well fed. ๏ฟฝ
Being by myself, taking a walk, going out for coffee...a time of self reflection always renews my spirit and energy. It helps me to reset.

Access to Education for children in rural communities. I started my early childhood education in a rural school. I know that without education, my life would have taken a completely different turn. Education opens up a child to limitless possibilities. Together with others, we are supporting the school with resources to make sure the kids have a chance to succeed. I recently provided the school with an internet connection to help the Principal with lesson planning. I hope to raise funds to provide at least two laptops to the School Principal and one teacher.
I am proud to partner with Moo me Gen - Oils of Hope to support the local communities in the Ugandan Shea belt with preserving the Shea tree (63% of the forest has been destroyed in favor of charcoal making). We are working to establish alternative economic activities, and also fundraising to build a community center for Adult literacy and an early learning center.

First up, join us for St. Patrick's Day festivities on Saturday, March 16th! Enjoy a day filled with shamrocks, shenanigans, and plenty of luck. Shop or dine at any of our fabulous businesses, or swing by the Welcome Center between noon and 3pm to try your hand at our "Lucky Duck" contest. Pick the winning duck and be entered into a drawing for one of THREE prize bundles! Winners will be drawn and announced on Monday, March 18th. Keep an eye out for the magical leprechaun spreading cheer and coins throughout town in the early afternoon!
Then, mark your calendars for everyone's favorite time of year โ First Fridays on Main Street! Join us every First Friday of the month for extended hours until 8:00pm, where you can explore our Main Street stores and enjoy a lively atmosphere.
But the fun doesn't stop there! SpringFest 2024 is back on April 20th, promising a day of springtime celebration, family fun, and fantastic entertainment. With two outdoor stages, food trucks, artisan crafts, kids activities, and beer/wine gardens, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The festivities kick off at noon, so don't miss out!
