Another fun game night at Double Looks Games. Got in games of Kraftwagen and Diced Veggies and a few hands of The Crew at our table. The other board game table had Arkhanos and White Castle going.

1 Day Until PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia!

Counting down the Top things I am looking forward to at the con.

#1 - Sharing “Drum Major” - Back in June, as I was driving home from GenCon, I set my mind to designing a game and trying to get it published. My short term goal was to have a prototype ready by PAX so I could do some playtesting there. Well, tomorrow is the day! I am super proud of how the game has developed and can’t wait to share it with some more people. I even have my first “pitch” meeting scheduled for Sunday to share the idea with a publisher. 🎲🎼🎶🥁❤️

#2 - Cafe Baras! - - I don’t buy a lot of new games these days, but this is the one game I’m hoping to grab a copy of in Philly. We sold hundreds of copies of this game at GenCon in Indy this summer, but it sold out every day, so I didn’t get to pick up a copy for us. Really hoping we can play it over the holidays with the family. ☕️🥯

3 Days Until PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia!

Counting down the top things I am looking forward to with the trip.

#3 actually has nothing to do with board games. I can’t wait for the train rides! I love the slow pace of the train, and I love being able to look out at the mountains and the countryside and Horseshoe Curve. The best part is the way the rhythmic rocking of the train just lulls you to sleep though. I can’t wait for train naps! 🛤️😴❤️🎲

Looking for some input. I'm working on my latest prototype and trying to use my time as efficiently as possible. I initially designed all the action cards in the game to only include symbols (see examples on the left) and included player aides with a chart illustrating all the symbols. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to rework them all to include text on the cards so there's no need for a player aide (examples on the right). I don't want the playtesters to get hung up on little things (like having to keep looking at the player aides) and get distracted from the overall play experience, but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Some of the cards would be easy to change and others would take a good bit of effort. Plus, I kind of like the simplicity of the originals. - - Any thoughts?

Spent the morning (and a good bit of the afternoon so far) updating rulebooks and prototypes for 2 games I’m designing. 🎼🥁🎺 & 🏕️🛶🐻
