It's with great sadness to tell you that our amazing father passed away peacefully today with all three daughters (Lark, Greer, & Codi) by his side. He will be missed immensely, and we are happy that he will finally be reunited with our Mom. We know she will have plenty of projects and adventures lined up for them!

Beautiful day that was worth the wait (and suspense).

Thank you to Reka's Rise & Shine Coffee Co. and Marshall's Barbecue Pit for feeding our crowd today! We had people from Colorado, Nevada, Louisiana, and all over Texas here, and they raved about your food & beverages. You helped create some amazing memories, and we are so thankful for you!

A perfect view to end the week!

Our property is directly on Lake Fork, a championship bass fishing lake. People literally come from all over the world to fish here. Both getting ready suites have full bathrooms with showers, which is perfect after a morning with the fish. So, if you and/or your significant other are avid fishermen, what better place to spend your wedding day? Even if you don’t fish, this view is so relaxing. It’s so calming just to sit and listen. Win/win for everyone!

Throwback Thursday when we were able to have these flowers serve double duty for both ceremony and then later for some photos in our greenhouse. These were perfect for a garden-vibe wedding! What I love is how the florist, on her way to the venue that morning, spontaneously pulled over at a road side nursery and purchased some bougainvillea plants to utilize their unique blooms. It added the perfect final touch to the gorgeous arrangements. Key tip: don’t forget to look to amazing local nurseries to add a layer beauty to your wedding day! Plants make the whole vibe so welcoming.

One of our favorite treats to make on snow days is drinkable custard or, as my kids call it, Christmas Milk! See the recipe below. ☺️

Ingredients

* 1 quart whole milk
* 4 large eggs
* 3/4 cup white sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* Pinch of salt

Directions

1. Place milk in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until milk is heated through.

2. Beat eggs in a large bowl until light. Add sugar and mix well. Pour a small portion of hot milk into egg mixture, whisking constantly, until warmed and thinned. Pour mixture slowly back into hot milk, whisking constantly.

3. Cook and stir until custard is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. An instant read thermometer inserted into custard should read 180 degrees F (82 degrees C). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Transfer custard to a container and chill completely in the refrigerator before serving.

Hope everyone is staying warm! This is Rusty, our metal horse. He’s okay out in the elements. People always think he’s real though, because they typically see him from a distance. You can spot him from the road as you are approaching the venue or from the ceremony lawn. Most comments center around how much he likes to eat out of that bucket! That’s when we tell folks he’s just a statue. It’s one of the many fun little details people discover around the property. 😄

Elegant and formal while still being relaxed and welcoming. Think layers of textures: Terra cotta, leather, velvet, concrete, and a variety of potted garden flowers. This was a masterful way of elevating grounded and earthy elements into a beautiful atmosphere. It gave the guests a beautiful experience in a scenic & rural location.

Did you know the birch trees behind our bar area are actually 10’ tall porcelain tiles imported from Italy? It is not a mural or a collection of tall decals! In fact, every part of the venue is filled with architectural interest from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Even the bar area gets special treatment!

They are people with ups and downs, joys and heartaches, and filled with all sorts of experiences and emotions. They occupy our hearts leading up to the big day and months and years afterwards. We are very thankful for the time we get to spend with each person because they are a valuable gift.
