HE PUA LAHA 'OLE...A FLOWER NOT COMMON. This 'Olelo No'eau Hawai'i (Hawaiian Proverb) is used as an expression of one who is as choice and highly prized as a very rare blossom. Some people can come into your life unexpectedly and in a brief moment...you are forever changed. My Kumu Lei is one of those very rare people.

Some Kumu Hula are great masters of dancing...some Kumu Hula are great masters of teaching...then there's Kumu Lei who is a master of both. It goes without saying that Kumu Lei is both beautiful, inside and out...the depths of the beauty of her soul comes out in her teaching and choreography.

Ke Akua has truly been gracious to gift me with a kahua (mentor) who not only challenges and strengthens my skills as a dancer, teacher and leader, she challenges and strengthens me in my faith in Ke Akua and in my knowledge of His Word, in English and Hawaiian! My husband, Kupono, and I are both truly blessed she came into our lives and has truly inspired what we do for Ke Akua and for our hula 'ohana - Hālau Ka Lei Kukui Hi'ilani (Mainlsnd USA Extension), the City of San Marcos Students, Zoom Hula Students and the all past and future students of her Hawaiian Hula Workshops by Kumu Hula Leihi'ilani Kirkpatrick

Throwback 2017 - E ONIPA'A I KA 'IMI NA'AUAO
"Be steadfast in the seeking of knowledge"—the motto of Hawai'i's last reigning monarch, beloved Queen Liliu'okalani which we celebrated at our 2017 workshops.

NOVEMBER 11, 2021 is the 104th anniversary of the passing of Queen Lili'uokalani. Join us as we honor her with oli (chant), hula (dance) and a himene (hymn) and remember her passion for the welfare and the education of her Hawaiian people, especially the children.

IN 2019, WE WERE JUST BEGINNING TO GROW OUR UNCOMMON FLOWER...THEN WE GOT PUT ON HOLD....WE ARE LOOKING TO REPLANT THE SEEDS OF ALOHA IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
It is hard to believe it has almost been 3 years since we had this much fun and we kicked off the addition of our Hawaiian Hula Arts Workshops with 'olena dyeing and kapa stamping.

This year we are learning to make an ancient style gourd rattle - 'uli'uli heke 'ole - and a hula kahiko (ancient style) to go with it.
