It’s time to process chickens on the farm ☀️ and while it means long days processing birds, it also means filling our freezers with beautiful, pasture-raised, organically-fed meat for our family.

Chickens were the very first meat that we processed on our farm six years ago and we’ve never looked back. It’s something really special to fill your plate with food that you put your heart and soul into, and even six years later, we celebrate every meal with this chicken as if it were our first time eating it. And quite honestly, if you’ve never had (our) pasture-raised chicken, there’s nothing comparable.

Every time we process chickens, we reminisce about the trials of that season, the loss, the predation, the pasture, the weather, grain prices, the pain in the butt it is to move chicken tractors and fencing twice a day… but more than all of that, we talk about how thankful we are to fill our freezers with homegrown chicken and how blessed we are to share our harvest with y’all 🩷

The Library is giving a Terrarium Class on Wed Oct 18th from 4-6pm!

Join us for this class taught by local florist and crafter Christina Richie from Poppy's Rail Trail Flowers & Boutique.

There is a $25 fee that includes all supplies, so you don't need to bring any of your own materials! Please contact the library to register by October 14th.

Let your Christmas gift shopping commence! Shop local when you can where small business owners still greet you at the door, help you at their checkout counter, and might even ask about your life because they care. There are so many great shops in our area right now!! There is a bit of therapy in going through the doors of these small artisan shops in what seems to have become an old fashioned way of doing business. In these uncertain times, we can still make a difference. While online shopping is much easier, and it really is easier, it still can’t compare to the feeling you get in giving these shop owners a chance, taking care of our people in a community, supporting local business, and seeing people whose company you might enjoy. Barn Owl Bistro & Goods. Step back in time with this place….the most charming country store just a few miles away from Swiss & Bloom Farm, in East Berkshire! You’ve got to plan your visit….through their doors you will find the most to-die-for chef made pastries made daily by VT!

See that wide stripe on the floor? That was where the matching counter sat. We saved it and now that counter sits at the Bumblebee Bistro in Enosburg. Barn Owl took us just shy of two years to renovate, pretty much all of the lockdown time. It was a major labor of love and it still amazes us to see how far we’ve come. To take a falling down building from beginning to a thriving country store is amazing to witness. We are proud to have saved this store which will stand for many generations to come.
