Congratulations to Major League Fishing for winning the National Event of the Year!

Major League Fishing, the world’s largest tournament fishing organization, made its Pennsylvania debut in Erie with the General Tire Team B&W Trailer Hitches Challenge Cup Series from August 25-30. The event brought 24 of the world’s top professional anglers to compete, with live-streamed coverage reaching over half a million viewers across 36 hours.

Congratulations to the World Ninja League Regional Qualifiers!

The World Ninja League, an elite competition series for athletes ages 6 and up, hosted three qualifiers at Sinai Sports in 2024, drawing nearly 2,000 participants and spectators.

Congratulations to the Midwest GAA for winning the New Event of the Year Award!

The Midwest GAA represents Hurling, Gaelic Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Clubs throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes region of the United States. This event was held for the first time in Erie, on August 3-4 at the Erie Sports Center and featured 300 participants.

Congratulations to Jim Waters for winning the Ron Sertz Dedication to Erie Award!

Jim Waters, owner of the Erie Otters Hockey Club, purchased the team in July 2015, and led the Otters to their second OHL championship in 2017. Waters left a profound, lasting legacy as a devoted supporter of Erie’s hockey community, before passing away unexpectedly in December.

Congratulations to the PA State USBC Open Championships for winning the Impact Award!

The PA State USBC Open Championships brought over 3,800 attendees to Erie over nine weeks, from April 5 to June 8, driving more than 3,000 hotel room nights and an estimated $2 million in economic impact.

Congratulations to the Barber Beast on the Bay for winning the Locally Managed Event of the Year!

In 2024, the Barber Beast on the Bay set a record with over 1,300 participants. This unique event challenges athletes with a 10-mile obstacle course through the sand, water and trails at Presque Isle State Park and Waldameer Park and Water World. It also offers a one-mile adapted course for participants 12 and older with physical or intellectual disabilities, ensuring an inclusive experience for all.

It was a great weekend at the Flagship Ice Open❄️🎣

🎣 What a day on the ice! The Flagship Ice Open, presented by Western PA Team Bass Series and Western PA Hardwater Tournament Series, brought over 50 teams to Presque Isle Bay last Saturday for one of the largest competitive ice fishing tournaments in the United States! Thank you to all the anglers, organizers and supporters who made this event a massive success! 🏆❄️
