Initially, this project of mine happened when I decided to return to, or maybe move forward with, music as an expression of art .. I'm a classically trained pianist .. those that are "classically trained" musicians know what it means to present one's self as "classically trained". I also was the keyboardist and synthesist for a rock and roll band for which I was a founding member .. including voca
l and roadie duties. So, I have decided to start "gigging" again. My first step was to get together a repertoire and the proper accessory equipment other than my keyboard .. oh, which, by the way, is a state of the art Roland Fantom X8 Workstation .. and I make this baby work! With that said, I purchased a brand new set of American DJ LED lighting trees and a incredible Roland vocal processor. I live in the small, beautiful town of Estes Park, Colorado, and all the local venues overflow with competent musicians, some of them my friends, and these venues are booked forever by these people. I decided to create my own venue by acquiring Performance Park, a beautiful relatively new band shell with a mountainside as its backstage and to put on my own show. I was also ready to shell out $400, including a refundable $100 deposit, of my own money to do this. And then a good friend who chairs a local 501c, Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies and its board, unanimously voted to sponsor my endeavor which, due to the Town's procedure, allowed the venue rental to be void because a 501c was now onboard .. Well, as this was coming together, I began to think of how many other local performers are out there in my town that might love to share their skills with the residents of and visitors to Estes Park. I approached my friends with this thought and, again, Fine Arts Guild voted to move forward with this thought...
.. to provide an avenue of expression for entertainers to perform in Estes Park that would not normally be able to share their talent with us because so many of the available venues are booked forever. Event notifications will be presented as I scour Colorado for talent I'd like to present to my hometown and, with the continued support of Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies and other 501c's, showcase them at this beautiful facility we have .. Performance Park. I've created a analog monster in my town and their appears to be no room for a digital artist anymore as a result of my support and presentations of bluegrass, folk and coffee house music. I've been a part of furthering the musical horizons of some local artists at the expense of my desires to perform my schtick .. big production rock and roll. Through my initial efforts and vision, Performance Park is being more frequently used for a variety of presentations and I'm off to other aspirations .. always keeping music close by. This page continues to mature and be dedicated to my love and the love of others for The Arts and all their genres .. passed and present.
