Texas Bison
π΄β¨π¦¬ **A Day in the Life with the Gentle Giants of the Texas Hill Country** β¨π΄
Today started with our usual routine - ensuring the horses were well-fed and ready for the day. But the real excitement began right after, with our beloved bison, or as we fondly call them, "The Fluffy Cows."
Meet Norman and his charming lady friends! Their excitement was palpable as we approached, treats in hand. It's a sight to behold, their massive forms moving with surprising grace, eager for a bit of pampering. Contrary to what one might expect, these giants were gentle, not a single thought of sending anyone flying through the air. Well, except for a playful nudge at the four-wheeler, but we'll chalk that up to their sheer enthusiasm.
It's a unique experience, one that might make you consider packing a treat or two for the fluffy cows you encounter in places like Yellowstone. Imagine the appreciation in their eyes!
While it might be tempting to extend this gesture of goodwill to the bison of Yellowstone, imagining they'd appreciate a tasty treat. These bison are more than just wild animals; they are pets, accustomed to human interaction, in the unique setting of the Texas Hill Country. So, while the thought might bring a chuckle, it's best to leave such interactions to the professionals.
These bison are not just animals; they're pets, family. Here in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, we've developed a bond that's built on mutual respect and understanding.
Stay safe, admire from a distance, and always respect wildlife.
Skiing Down the Mountain
Not my best video work for sure. Hiking up to Emerald Lake this morning we saw a few people skiing down the mountain. I got a little bit of video. Didn't have the right lens to shoot it right, but it was pretty cool watching them do this crazy stuff. 04-05-24

Moose in Lake
I love the way the color from the clouds reflected in the water as the moose moved. 08-13-23, RMNP, Lumix g9
Bull Moose - Nobel
We are calling this guy Nobel, as in no-bell. RMNP, 07-24-23, Lumix g9, 4k. The biggest moose I've ever seen in the Park, and he still has another month of growing to do.
Big Bull Moose
The inside of this guy's rack is wider than his hips. Kind of a big guy. RMNP, 07-23-23. Lumix g9, 4k
