Well folks that's a wrap. Farm Camp Summer 2024 has come to an end.

This morning we had our last visit with Dillen Priest from Thompson Appalachian Hardwood. She taught the kids about the importance of trees and all the many things we get from trees. Afterwards we took a nature hike to identify trees, leaves and seeds. Thank you Dillen and the entire Thompson family for your support and dedication this summer at Farm Camp.

This afternoon we battled the hot weather by enjoying the water slide and a visit from the ice cream truck.

THANK YOU to all my parents, volunteers, community support, and everyone who made Farm Camp Summer 2024 a success!

What do you call a snowman in July?
"A puddle"

Wow it was a hot one today but these kids are such great troopers. No matter what the weather is at farm camp, we always have fun!!

We started our morning with a visit with Carolyn Wiseman, Cathy Burgin, and Zoey Ward from Franklin County Soil Conservation. They educated the kids on the importance of our soil and then they helped the kids make their own Chia "soil" pets.

This afternoon we welcomed Robbie Wilkinson, Ethan Hall, and Patrick Stefanski and their beautiful K-9 dogs Zuta, Roku, and Marko with Franklin County Sheriff's Department. They did an awesome presentation with their K-9 dogs. The kids always enjoy watching the dogs demonstrate their job with the police department and then getting a few cuddles at the end.

Big thank you to these wonderful community supporters for all your support this summer at Farm Camp.

Another great day in the books!

Big thank you to Kelleye Hogan Watts with Chick-fil-A Tullahoma for coming out this morning for a great lemon squeezing contest and then refreshing us with lemonade to go with our lunch. Kelleye has not missed a week this summer of farm camp. Each week she presents each child a free chick-fil-a gift card.

This afternoon we had Drew Jackson with Wi******er Fire Department do a wonderful fire safety presentation with the kids.

Thank you to both of these wonderful community supporters for your dedication this summer to Farm Camp.

This afternoon the kids enjoyed a glass of fresh sweet tea that Jack, one of the campers, made for us. Sorry mom's but lots of kids said Jack's tea was better than you. The secret ingredient per Jack is love. He keeps his tea in a container that used to be one of his grandmas container that had passed away.

Great start to the last week of Farm Camp 2024, but a stormy finish to end the day.

A stormy finish means we got hit hard by the heavy thunderstorms that came through this afternoon so we ended our day sheltering down in the kitchen. So proud of all the kids for being such good troopers.

Our morning started with David Lowrie, state director with Tennessee Bass Nation. First he educated the kids on basic fishing knowledge plus boat safety. Then the kids had fun playing the bass fishing casting game. Big shout out to camper Aiden Elliott for winning the most caught fish this summer at farm camp with 11 fish.

This afternoon we enjoyed our visit with Ian Turner from Middle Tennessee Raptor Center. He brought out Clover, an American Kestril Falcon and Oakie, a barred owl.

This afternoon my good friend Monica Rosenwald brought her beautiful horses out and she educated the kids on the different types of horses. Afterwards the kids enjoyed giving the horses a bath after all the rain we've had this week.

We ended our day by having show and tell. I love watching the kids get up front of the group to talk about their special show and tell they brought.

"Let's not spoil a good day by worrying about the weather."

This morning we had a very special visitor at farm camp. Leslie Stephens, a first Officer with United Airlines did a wonderful presentation. Leslie flies the Boeing 757/767 fleet. She flies out of Newark, NJ and mostly does European flying. She talked to the kids about the different places she flies to and what all an airline pilot does. She brought all her uniform gear and let the kids dress up as pilots. Afterwards, the kids built paper airplanes and had a contest.

This afternoon we had a visit from Ian Turner with Middle Tennessee Raptors. He brought out Clover, an American Kestril Falcon and Oakie, a barred owl.

We ended up our day getting to celebrate our second birthday girl for the week. Happy birthday Hadley Jo!!!

"Life is better with frogs, or least that's what Farm Camp kids think."

Today we kicked off week 7 of farm camp. We started our day with a visit from David Lowrie, state director with Tennessee Bass Nation. First he educated the kids on basic fishing knowledge plus boat safety. Then the kids had fun playing the bass fishing casting game.

After he left we enjoyed playing with the farm animals and finding several frogs that spent the rest of the day with us at camp.

This afternoon we celebrated Sadie's birthday and ate delicious cupcakes.

Busy day but good day!!

This morning Marilee Crabtree and Laurel Wall veterinary technicians from Animal Care Center did a wonderful presentation. This morning we enjoyed loving on all the farm animals. After that we divided into groups of archery practice and paint class.

This afternoon we enjoyed having Kelleye Hogan Watts with Chick-fil-A Tullahoma (1708 N Jackson St, Tullahoma, TN) come out for storytime, lemon "squeezing" contest, and a glass of cold lemonade.

This past week at "Be You" camp we talked about how God blesses us so we can go out and bless others.

This morning, a few girls met me at Morning Pointe Assisted Living and we enjoyed blessing their residents with artwork the girls made this week.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

This morning at devotion Anna Claire Ray recapped our week about why God created us and I believe Ephesians 2:10 does a great job describing that. He created us to live for Him, to serve, to love one another, and to have friendship. I have enjoyed watching these girls this week get to know each other and to build friendship that will last a lifetime. Afterwards she presented each girl a bracelet with the word they chose on Monday that represented their "I am."

After devotion, we welcomed Arlene Morgan from Arly Crafts. She brought all the girls a craft bag to make a wristlet and had each ones name engraved on a charm. Mrs Arlene does custom designs, sign parties, and craft shows.

This afternoon was our Friday favorite with the water slide and ice cream truck followed by celebrating Kinsley 11th birthday at camp.

Thank you to all the parents and teen girls for a WONDERFUL week. I hope they had as much fun as I did.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Today Anna Claire Ray talked about how we should rejoice always. We all know it's easy to rejoice when things are going good in life, but what about when it's not? To rejoice always, doesn’t mean that we are never allowed to be sad. When hard things happen, you are allowed to be upset. But even while you are upset, you can still be joyful that you belong to Christ.

After devotion we were excited to see Laura Knight and her Mary Kay pink Cadillac pull up. Laura educated the girls on how important it is to cleanse your face. She also gave us a little history on how Mary Kay was founded. Founder, Mary Kay Ash knew the decision that had to made in her new company was God first, family second, and career third.

After we finished up our cleansing lesson, I split the girls up into four groups. I gave each group a recipe card, the ingredients they needed and made them work as a team to complete the recipe. Afterwards we all sampled each dessert and I was so proud of each group.

This afternoon we enjoyed having Laura Ruff help us finish up our tie dye shirts with the "Be You" camp stencil.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

As always, we start each morning at camp with prayer and devotion. I was so happy to see the girls coming out of their shell today and volunteering to pray. Today Anna Claire Ray talked about why God created us to have friendships. I loved how she paired the girls up in groups of two to pray together about things they had on their heart.

After devotion we welcomed Marilee Crabtree and Laurel Wall veterinary technicians from Animal Care Center. We passed around heartworms along with a 3D model of a heart with heartworms. As well as tapeworms, bladder stones, and a 3D cat mouth model to demonstrate when dental cleanings are needed.

Immediately after North Middle School Counselor Sheri Smith did a wonderful demonstration about bullying. She asked the girls "Did you pick your eye color? Did you pick your skin color?" She reminded us that God created each of us for purpose and that we are all perfect in His eyes and that we should never bully people for their differences.

After lunch we welcomed Dr. Dana Jackson to educate us on healthy eating choices. Just like it's important to feed our minds, it's just as important to feed our bodies. Even at an early age we all need to be educated on foods that are good for us. She taught the girls how to read labels and learning about the difference in natural sugars and artificial sugars.

We ended our day loving on all the farm animals and watching the chickens enjoy their yogurt treat.

"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." Romans 3:23

It was a wonderful day at "Be You" camp. Every morning at camp we start our day with prayer and devotion with Anna Claire Ray. This morning she was talking about the beginning in Genesis when Adam and Eve fell short when they ate the forbidden fruit. Just like Adam and Eve were not perfect, we are not either. But praise be to God that He knows that and forgives us.

After devotion, Cristy Crownover from HAIRitage Salon pampered the girls with beautiful feathers in their hair.

This afternoon we had a yoga class with Lauren Martin. She taught the girls that yoga is a great resource in empowering individuals to connect with themselves through breath. Understanding the importance of breath and its connection to self creates space for choice in daily life. If we all learned this earlier, we could make a larger impact through choosing love.

We ended our day making tie dye shirts and celebrating McKenzy's birthday. Thank you to my sweet daughter Katelyn Mead for taking the lead with our tie dye project!

Thank you Lord for another wonderful day with these young ladies!!

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:13-14

WOW is the first word that comes to mind after the 1st day of a new girl camp called "Be You." It was so evident that God was with us all day.

We started our day in prayer and devotion with Anna Claire Ray. She talked to the girls about who God made them to be and how each of them are unique in their own way. She had the girls write one word down that described who they were and then had them explain why they picked that word.

Immediately after, Christy Archey and Kara Stewart with The Glamour Lounge was ready to pamper the girls by gel polishing their nails.

We had just enough time to eat lunch before Kayla White with Promise Manor arrived to educate the girls on the importance of a spirit led vision board. It was amazing to see the things the girls wrote down on their boards and it will be a visual reminder everyday.

Last but definitely not least we ended our day with Kelleye Hogan Watts from Chick-fil-A Tullahoma. Even though the teen girls are still a little young to start a part time job she educated them on how you can work on helping and volunteering in our community, in their church, or just simply holding the door for someone. We wrapped her visit up with our lemon squeezing game and refreshed the girls with lemonade and cookies.

Thank you Lord for these wonderful ladies taking time out of their busy days to give a little encouragement for these young girls.

Week 4 has come to an end but went out with a BLAST!

This morning we enjoyed yoga with Lauren from Mountain Mobile Massage. I love the energy she brings to camp and educating the kids how to stretch their bodies.

Right after we finished yoga it was time to start "squeezing" lemons with Kelleye Hogan Watts from Chick-fil-A Tullahoma. It's always a fun time seeing who can squeeze the most lemon juice and then celebrating with a cup of fresh, cold lemonade.

This afternoon we finished our day on what the kids have been waiting for all week, the huge water slide.

Thank you to ALL my parents for another great week!! Mrs. Lyndi is signing off for a week to rest up.
