It's a happy Father's Day post! Also a reminder for your wedding day: You don't want absolutely everything to go according to plan. There are some moments that will be more magical than you could ever dream of. ✨

For example, my dad and I were dancing to Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" when the music suddenly cut out and we found ourselves serenading each other instead. Swipe to see a photo of us singing the chorus! Definitely one of my favorite memories of the day, and it only happened because the speakers decided to stop working for a minute or two. 😉

So draft the timeline, make the plan, feel confident going into your day... And then surrender. Let the magic moments unfold for you. 💜🙌 Because this isn't Pinterest, baby! It's real life, and I love it.

Kiara met me in my driveway a year ago, just to borrow some bud vases for her upcoming wedding. I learned she needed more than bud vases: she needed help. And though I was not a wedding planner at the time, I offered to coordinate her big day.

I had SO MUCH FUN working with Kiara and Kyle, and afterwards they wrote my first five star review. In the year that followed, my business has blossomed: I have nine weddings on the books for this summer and two already booked for 2025. I love what I do, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for Round Pearl Events! 💜💜💜

Let's slow things down. 🧘‍♀️ Your wedding day can be a whirlwind of happy faces and hellos, so let's make sure we carve out some quiet moments, too. I LOVE creating custom timelines that provide structure as well as freedom for my couples! If you're looking to add some intentional one-on-one time with your sweetie on the big day, here are some of my favorites:

💜 A First Look, or "First Touch" if you'd like to stay hidden from each other before the ceremony.

💜 Private Vows allow you to speak from the heart without an audience, and they can be shared before or after the ceremony.

💜 Private Cocktails - sign your marriage license and then dismiss your witnesses so you two can enjoy a drink and some appetizers together.

💜 Private Dinner - you can eat together in seclusion during cocktail hour, and then rejoin your reception ready to mingle. I highly recommend this if you're planning to do table visits with all your guests!

💜 Couples Portraits/Sunset Photos - look at these two cuties pictured above 😍. Take a walk together, and photographers like will work their magic.

💜 Slow Dance - this can be your First Dance, Last Dance, or anything in between. Holding each other on the dance floor is a wonderful way to slow down a fast-paced reception.

We've been cooking up something awesome: a styled photoshoot exploring a wedding that's totally, radically, locally sourced. From the flowers to the clothing and locally made paper menus, to the drinks and candles... everything was made right here in Eugene (or just outside it, we see you Harrisburg, Junction City, and Springfield!).

Kaitlyn & Kirk, when you first contacted me last summer I asked, "What do you want your wedding to feel like?" and you responded: "NOT BORING." 😂 That remained our guiding star for the next 9 months, and I think it's safe to say you two are some of the least boring people I've ever met. Your wedding day was full of (good) surprises, last minute pivots, and a dancefloor that was so active your DJ was asked to stay two more hours. Not boring at all 🙌

Let's talk ceremonies ✨

It's easy to focus on all the other details of planning your wedding day: venue, food, entertainment, what to wear, and then suddenly remember that you haven't given any thought to the ceremony. What will you say? And do?
Professional officiants like and are incredible resources. They gracefully guide their clients through the process of building a meaningful ceremony from scratch, and ensure there's no boredom or unpleasant surprises on the big day (If you've ever attended a wedding where the officiant went off-script for a political rant... the cringe is real!!).
If a professional officiant is not within your budget, I encourage you to check out . They have so many resources including step by step guides, YouTube videos, and online courses to give confidence to first-time officiants and ensure your ceremony feels authentic, fun, and most of all: NOT boring!

It's here! 📬 A custom postcard Save-the-Date from the talented Ginger with . My couple is getting married at a summer camp on Sebago Lake near Portland, Maine 🏕️🥾🔥🌲🛶 and I couldn't be more excited for their vintage-inspired summer camp theme!
I usually stay close to home for weddings, but this particular couple are dear friends... Plus their weekend-long event is going to be WAY too much fun, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Your marriage license: a tiny part of the big day, yet so important! I've seen this one cause some stress if it's left until the last minute, so let's talk about best practices:

📝 In Lane County, you can apply for your marriage license up to 60 days before your wedding date, and no later than three days before your event. I put a little note in my clients' planning timeline at the 2-month mark, to remind them.

📝 When you receive your packet from the county clerk's office, it will have a page of instructions for your officiant. I recommend giving the packet to your officiant to look over well in advance of your wedding, if this is their first or second time officiating. However, if you hire a professional officiant like or , they know the process like the back of their hands and probably don't need to see it in advance!

📝 Put the marriage license on your packing list, so it doesn't get forgotten on the day of your wedding.

📝 I encourage the officiant to fill out some of the paperwork before the wedding ceremony. That way, when it's time to sign during cocktail hour, the tedious stuff is complete and all we need is a couple of newlywed signatures to seal the deal 💕

📝 Make sure your photographer is invited for the signing. 📸

Get the SHOES. 👠 You know which ones - the pair you can't stop thinking about. The shoes you can't wait to wear, not just on your wedding day but over and over again.

Stephanie & Troy showed me the power of shoes on their wedding day at . As vibrant as their personalities, and the perfect conversation starters, their footwear was 🔥🔥

Remember, there are no wedding police. You're not breaking any laws with shoes that aren't white, or don't have heels, or if you kick 'em off halfway through the reception. I've had couples get married in Birkenstocks, stilettos, and even their bare feet. 👣 I say, wear what you want - it's your day.

I don't flex this often, but I have a degree in sustainable design... And keep that quiet because "sustainability" can be associated with "no fun at all!" 😂 But sometimes folks want to hear about how we can have incredible, delightful, unforgettable events that have a low impact on our planet. Collaboration is my jam! 🤗 I love partnering with couples and their vendors to bring unforgettable weddings to life. Marc Brooks ( ) was one of those heroic vendors - he gracefully pivoted from "officiant" to "officiant + emcee" at the last minute to help us fill in a sudden gap at a wedding in September. We had his script ready to go, but he didn't need it... Such a polished professional. Thank you again Marc, you were amazing and I hope to see you at a future event!!! 🙏💜

Take this day, and make it yours. 💛 You don't have to be a "wedding person" to get married. Be barefoot, dance in a field to the sound of spring frogs croaking, wear something that makes you feel awesome, hang out with your favorite people. Choose a venue because you love being there. Choose a photographer because they make you feel comfortable. Choose a wedding planner who's stoked about your vision.

Hi there! 👋 It's me Olivia, your nerdy wedding angel. I live right here in beautiful Eugene, scampering through nature whenever I can (often with my husband). 🌲🌳

As a wedding planner, my guiding star is, "how can we make this process /day more comfortable, more authentic, more YOU?"

I love to craft personal, deeply-curated events that truly celebrate you and your partner. That means I live for the funky details: getting married in a local art gallery, blasting "Veggie Tales" during the reception, or swapping your heels for some comfy Crocs halfway through the night.

Sometimes, my job is simply to give you permission to have the day you really, really want. I received this gallery a couple weeks ago and teared up all over again. Of all the weddings I did in 2023, this one had me feeling the most tender. 💖

My couples are the best people. They're creative, determined and kind. They get married in really cool places like with all their favorite people in attendance and their 8-year-old kiddo taking photos from the front row. 📸

Emily & Nora wanted a wedding that was true to them. We had appetizers instead of a sit-down dinner, an afternoon reception of board games instead of dancing, and they wore matching lavender Birkenstocks. 😍 What really touched me is they chose their vendors in a way that supported their community: from the freelance bartender to photographer to the caterer, everyone was a personal connection. I was so honored to be a part of the team!

Thank you to Emily & Nora for having the courage to build a day that felt like you. 💖 I wish you every happiness, you both work so hard to spread joy and equality into the world. Thank you for the work you do, and cheers to your forever! 🥂💖

I'll always be a big fan of First Looks. 💙 They are a great way to take pressure off your timeline, and pressure off yourself!

💙 First looks can be with your partner, wedding party, parents, grandparents... Or all of the above.

💙 There will be less pressure to get all those photos done during cocktail hour. (If you're skipping cocktail hour, I definitely recommend having a first look!)

💙 Having some quiet one-on-one time with your partner is delicious on a big, exciting day. It can also be grounding and help with those pre-ceremony jitters.

Loved working with @oregonwoodfiredpizza at a wedding in October!🍕 Gary and his team were upbeat, energetic, and made some amazing pizza for our guests. When I confessed I can't eat gluten, Gary even made a special pizza just for me 🥰 What an awesome day, and @mount_pisgah_weddings was the perfect backdrop.

What a magic moment ✨🎻 At the very end of their reception, Troy's brother surprised him by accompanying their last dance song with his violin. John Legend has never sounded this good. 💓😭 . It was such an honor to be a part of Stephanie & Troy's big day. They had several "wow!" moments like this one, and guests kept coming up to me saying it was the best wedding they'd ever been to.
