We came home to Spring in full effect and I love it 🌸 especially since I started allergy shots a couple years ago! I used to love/hate this time because of how itchy and uncomfortable I was. We went to the fortress that was built to protect the city years ago. It was so cool to learn about the history of it all. Check out my stories for some clips :)

Soaking up the inside of the walled city in historic Cartagena. 11km of fortress wall was constructed in 1586 to protect against foreign invasion and pirates and now is a UNESCO world heritage site. It’s absolutely gorgeous inside the massive wall!

Guatapé ☂️ We’ve been moving around every couple of days or so and the girls have been great! But we finally arrived in Cartagena tonight and will be here for the remainder of our time in Colombia. The girls are pumped for beach time!

We almost didn’t come here…while making the itinerary, this didn’t make the cut list because it was out of the way and we need to maximize what time we have here. Our dear friend recommended it and said we wouldn’t be disappointed and it was a must. I’m sooooooo so glad we squeezed it in because we all love it here and could definitely stay longer. It’s so charming and romantic and my favorite thing about Jardín is the afternoon and evening sitting out in the square with friends and family. There are chairs and tables everywhere and people enjoying each other’s presence. Something that so easily is lost.

We left Bogotá today and landed in Salento, and I’m already in love. Big cities are fun, but I certainly love small town vibes. Maeve couldn’t be happier to have a hammock looking over our balcony (check my stories) and we can walk everywhere…safely 😝. We tried some dishes tonight that we had never had and let me just say…Palacónes!!!! 🤤

We escaped the big city of Bogota for a bit yesterday and headed north to a little town called Zipaquirá and explored the underground Salt Cathedral. It was pretty spectacular! We then met up later with one of my very first Spanish teachers 💖 I’ve been doing lessons with her for about a year and a half! Check my stories to see a pic! It was seriously so good and pretty unreal to meet her in person 💕🇨🇴
