I am so very happy to share the news that Tiffany and Matt Wiegand purchased my building as of Tuesday, April 30. Tiffany has dreamed about having her own business of home decor and gifts! She has worked for me for 10 years and has helped with purchasing, decorating, displays, and so much more. She will do a wonderful job creating a welcoming place for you to shop. Tiffany is busy making plans for her store - new decor, products, gifts, and more in a remodeled store! Venturing into a new business is an exciting challenge. Please support Tiffany at Bee’s Knees on Main as you have supported me! And extra special, her Mom, Beth Mallory, (who has worked for me for 30 years) will now be working for her daughter! I am looking forward to shopping at Bee’s Knees on Main!!

Flower Basket is closed!! Some of you might have wondered what an empty Flower Basket store looks like!! This was Tuesday morning, April 30 - my last day. My team of Beth, Cheryl, Tiffany, and Elle did an awesome job - beginning Feb 5 - from selling products in the store to displayers and fixtures and to finally some of our pegboards, shelving, and cabinets, etc! Thank you so much for your support over these last 47 years- I have so many wonderful memories and friendships made!

Flower Basket will be closed today, Sat, March 16- we will be at the Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale in the Interstate Center in Bloomington, Il. This is a fundraiser for MCC, which helps persons in need local and in 50 countries with food, medicines, schooling, clean water, and more. At the Sale, purchase many items- from plants at Flower Box, Baby booth, Kiddie Korner, Dutch Market (homemade bake goodies), quilts at auction and eat pancakes& sausage and so much more!! Hope to see you there!!!!

Elle, our display designer, is trying to solve the puzzle of putting together a display we never remember seeing , having, or using and without any instructions - “Building a ship at sea!” She almost has it done!!!! Or -Did the Eureka Et Cetera Shop leave us this treasure since our building was formerly their building?????

Sitting outdoors with my Dad - enjoying 74 sunny degrees on Tuesday, Feb 27 - and getting prepared for storms and WIND to pass through tonight with a temperature drop to 22 degrees by 7:00 am Wednesday, Feb 28 just a temperature drop of 52 degrees in 15 hours and then we will be freezing!!!! Hope everyone will be safe!!

Hi to all my wonderful customers at Flower Basket - I have made a decision that it is time for me to RETIRE - this has not been an easy decision as I have so enjoyed working with all of you in the many ways we could help you - flowers, gifts, and more!! I feel so blessed to have a wonderful team to work with - Beth, Cheryl, Tiffany, Elle, (and Louise and Judy on special events). As you can see I have a broken right wrist in a cast and this has made it more difficult for me to continue working. We will be closed this next week, Jan. 29-Feb 3, to prepare for selling of our inventory. We will open on Monday, Feb 5 - 30% OFF all merchandise - for all seasons! This is a bittersweet decision and I thank you for all your support, encouragement, friendship, and love during these last 47 years! Time flew by!

This is what we do at Flower Basket - today our rescue animal is a very long jumping FROG. It came in on a bromeliad and scared Cheryl when she took off the plant sleeve and then this guy jumped all over and under things BUT we caught it and it will not be our rescue pet. It will be released tonight by a lake!! As you can tell, Tiffany was not helping us as she was our photo journalist!!!! Beth was the most courageous!!!
