"Jennifer Lentz has dedicated twenty-five years to inspiring and enriching students' lives through the art of dance by teaching at numerous studios, conservatories and master class workshops. Jennifer is going into her ninth season as the owner and artistic director of Contempro Dance Theatre. Jennifer's choreography has won awards at numerous regional and national venues. Jennifer's students have gained a reputation for elite ballet training and undeniable versatility, which combined, has allowed students to thrive in the world of dance. Students have received acceptance and large talent scholarships to prestigious collegiate dance programs across the country including The Boston Conservatory, NYU, Point Park University, The University of the Arts, Shenandoah University and then some. Contempro graduates have gone on to perform professionally at Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden in New York City and abroad with Norwegian Cruise Lines. You can find CDT alumni performing on television, film and within professional dance companies all across the country.
What makes "Miss Jen" stand out amongst her peers is the family atmosphere she has created at Contempro. Most of her faculty members are former students who have come back "home" to work for Miss Jen and teach the next generation of CDT dancers. She makes every single dancer feel special and she is able to pull the best out of them throughout their dance journey. "It's a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together."”

“I am flattered to be nominated for this award by my peer Kate Moody. For 30 years I have owned and operated Shapes Dance and Acro Studio in rural Missouri. Our studio has 4 locations within 30 miles of each other with the populations of our towns being less than 4,000. Our mission is to grow young servant leaders through the performing arts. We serve on average 500 students annually with a student longevity of over 4 years. We are committed to building well trained dancers in our small towns through dance, acrobatic, cheer and aerial programs. We are proud to have 90% of our team homegrown and an average length of employment of over 7 years.
In 2015 we launched a non-profit organization, Taking Shape, which is an extension of the leadership foundation we have built in our dance studio. The mission is to reach beyond our own studio to help other dance studios, youth organizations and school systems develop a solid leadership foundation in the children of the next generation.
The Taking Shape Star Leadership program is a fine arts-based character value curriculum that was first piloted in our own Shapes Dance and Acro Studio over 20 years ago. It includes weekly lessons on everything from time management to managing emotions, from how to fill out a "Thank You Card" to making a habit of volunteering in your community. The written curriculum is basically a combination of every "life lesson" that I taught to my students around the ballet barre in my career. The Star Leadership program has been a successful catalyst in building student assistant teaching programs. We currently have over 100 studios and youth organizations using the program to build solid leaders in their organizations. I am honored to be nominated for this prestigious award."

"En Pointe Ballet is unique due to our successful boys' program with over 30 boys and men. It is our philosophy that boys need to be in classes with other boys to embrace the masculinity and athleticism of classical ballet. Even in Utah our numbers of male dancers are higher than other studios. We have 3 levels of boy's classes and 2 men's technique classes, and 4 levels of pas de deux (partnering classes) that meet weekly. Our dancers are learning and performing professional level choreography and variations in our performances. We have an on site Ballet Boutique to sell ballet attire and pointe shoes, as well as all things needed for boys’ and men's proper ballet attire.”
“En Pointe Ballet is a non-competitive, performance based classical ballet school. Our performances feature dancers from age 3 through adults. Our littlest dancers have the opportunity to experience performing with the advanced dancers whom they look up to and aspire to become. We have beginning teen and adult classes for dancers who never had the opportunity to learn ballet or want to return to ballet and performing no matter their age or physique. We specialize exclusively in Classical Ballet, and our students perform in full-length story ballet performances in June and Nutcracker in December of each year. Our philosophy centers around the preservation of long-standing ballet traditions and technique.”
