🌟Community Update from the Warrick Humane Society
We want to start by thanking each & every one of our local businesses & community members for stepping up to assist during these uncertain days. Like many, we are waiting on answers on how best to safely proceed after the chemical fire Saturday. Our top priority is the health & safety of our staff, volunteers, & the rescue animals we serve.
Currently all of the WHS animals are safe in foster care, or boarding facilities that made room for our rescues. We have had many reach out to ask how they can help. One of the biggest impacts we are feeling is the financial burden of being closed. Our organization does not receive any government funding, & is run on Donations & proceeds from Home Away Pet Spa. Currently we cannot take any new grooming or boarding appointments until it is safe to return. All of our fundraising supplies are on the property as well. We still have ingoing vetting costs for our rescues. The loss of this current & future income for our shelter is compounded by our costs building a New Shelter that is located a few lots down from the chemical fire. We will be facing construction cost delays due to the fire, & will have 2 Properties that will need clean up.
As of right now, like many others in our community, we have no idea on the process, safety meaures for cleanup, or cost.
With so much uncertainty, truly one of the best ways to help us right now is donations through our website since we still have access to that. We have a Reoccurring Monthly Donation Program that helps give us some consistency during these uncertain times. You can chose any amount from $5 up a month. Every dollar we can count on makes a difference right now.
We are so grateful for you all. The most important thing is that our staff, volunteers, & rescue animals are all safe right now. We remain committed to helping save the lives of homeless pets in the tri-state, & appreciate all of your support.
