Recipient of 2024 Chicago Defender Women of Excellence Award, Dr. Roberts-Tabb has created and implemented programs, mentored young ladies, and has been instrumental in bringing awareness to Cook County Juvenile Court around gender responsive issues, specifically domestic human trafficking by developing and implementing mandatory trainings.
As the first Human Trafficking/ Gender Responsive/LGBTQ Specialist for Cook County Juvenile Probation Department, Dr. Tabb has worked alongside every branch of government and law enforcement. As a member of Chicago Coalition on Urban Girls, Cook County Human Trafficking Taskforce, ICARE, Cook County Multi-Disciplinary Team, Human Trafficking Housing Pilot with the Administration for Children and Families in partnership with Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Tabb has collaborated on both policy and legislation. developing and implementing mandatory training Identifying Domestic Trafficking Victims. Dr. Roberts-Tabb Advocacy work has extended to several organizations including; Stop It l, Sky Way Railroad, Center on Halsted, Not Your Shame, Childrenâs Advocacy Center, Chicago Police Department, Cook County Sheriffâs Office, Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, Department of Children and Family Service, South Side Coalition on Urban Girls, CCHT Taskforce Training Subcommittee, and Federal Bureau of Investigation specifically Operation Cross Country 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) to assure that the youth we service are afforded the best care and treatment possible without violating their dignity and safety while acting as a mentor and often time a mother figure.
As the founder of Girls Night Out Dr. Roberts-Tabb along with other collaborating organizations have interrupted trafficking for seven years every January, by taking to the streets in a public anti- s*x tracking demonstration, offering resources, food, HIV Testing and person care products to women on the street. Dr. Roberts-Tabb is trained in several curriculums including Peace Circle, California Girls Circle, Mother Daughter Circles, VOICES and Moving On. Dr. Roberts-Tabb facilitated several programs and conferences including Who Am I Womenâs Conference and Tea, The Salt Summit, Affirm Her Greatness, and Living on Purpose.
The knowledge and passion that Dr. Roberts-Tabb possesses has impacted service providers nationally sitting before the Congressional Caucus for Black Women and Girls in Washington DC and Chicago Illinois, Cook County Human Trafficking Task Force Conference, US National Guard, Impact Youth, Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice, Cook County Court Clinic, Contribution to the Human Trafficking Task Force Law Enforcement Report, and the Gender and Justice Symposium, just to name a few.
