Around this time last year we were the busiest we’d ever been, managing multiple full decor events every weekend. Here’s a throwback to one of my favorite showers, celebrating Zaskia of .woodbridge and her baby boy’s arrival. You cannot convince me that teddies for showers will ever go out of style!

My rock and roll obsessed child dictated everything about this decor for his 6th birthday party— red, blue, and black; his favorite band emblems everywhere; and of course all of his favorite treats. He even dictated the song choice for this post!

To think I believed I’d be able to skip balloons this year. He actually asked me, “Mama, can I see the build for my birthday?” He meant the mock-up. He asked for a mock-up, like any discerning client. 😂

Happy birthday, my beautiful baby boy. Never lose that passion. It’s such a blessing.

Balloon decor doesn’t have to be grand in scale to make a statement. Still loving this little teddy moment with custom signage that our mama-to-be got to take home! And that custom blue pearl balloon is still one of my all time favorite colors.

Did you know balloons can be an eco-friendly option? We only use 100% natural rubber latex balloons that are fully biodegradable; our mylars can be reused; and we never, ever release balloons into the air.

Today we helped celebrate the re-opening of IKEA Woodbridge’s As-Is section, which is filled with good-as-new items without bulky packaging, sold at discounted prices. As-Is products are a fabulous option to help reduce the impact to our planet!

I’m posting today to humbly ask you to consider pitching in to help support Latasha of Twisty Twirly Balloons in her time of need. I met Latasha through Instagram in 2021 when she began her business. She is a mother of three (including a newborn), a business woman, and an incredibly talented balloon artist here in the DMV.

Last week, Latasha suffered a major health emergency: two herniated discs in her spine impinged her spinal cord, rendering her paralyzed from the waist down. She received emergency surgery, and she is about to undertake the tremendous challenge of learning to walk and function again.

We love our returning clients! This time last year, we built a deer-themed setup for Yara’s first birthday. This year, Yara’s mom requested an installation that could stay up for a few days so they could get plenty of photos. Of course, we did her one better: we had backdrops printed for her that she could keep forever! I just know this castle will make an amazing addition to Yara’s play room.

A throwback to this summer when we put together this installation for the sweetest repeat client. You might ask why we didn’t post it back in July… and clients might wonder why we choose to post some installations and not others.

Our IG profile is our portfolio, so we always want to post imaging that checks all the boxes. Maybe we couldn’t get a clean shot due to lighting. Maybe there were too many distracting background items or colors. Maybe there wasn’t enough time to get the good angles. Maybe there were some slight visual flaws that weren’t noticed on site.

In the case of this installation, if you look closely, a lightbulb on one of the marquees isn’t working (very important to emphasize that these were not rented from our friends at — they’re sticklers for double checking every bulb!). We also had minimal time to set up, so of course perfectionism sets in— what would we have shaped differently if there had been time?

Looking back on these images, though, I realize I was being too much of a perfectionist. The vibes in this room are bomb! What a clean shot! Definitely worth the post.

I scream, you scream… you know the rest! Our client for this installation was truly grace under pressure— so many curveballs were thrown her way, from weather to ice cream truck accidents! But we all banded together and made it happen. The events industry is never boring, folks.

Everyone knows we love a good backdrop panel installation, but sometimes you have to revisit the classics— and this earth-toned beauty is an example of how a simple canvas can sometimes yield the best chance for experimenting with composition.

This was also a speed build for us given our tight schedule today; the client supplied their neon and hoop and we brought the custom color bubbles!

I’ve always had a musical baby on my hands. Constantly wants to play DJ in the car. Favorite toys were instruments (closely rivaled by Hot Wheels if I’m being fair). Up until July, he had wanted an AC/DC themed party. But then we got on a Beatles jag and now it’s John Lennon this and Paul McCartney that, just like when he first heard them. The Beatles were part of my childhood as well, so I love that I can pass this on.

We kept things chill, at our inlaws’ home with family. Of course I still had to do decor— this is my love language, and my baby boy deserves the world.

Happy fifth birthday, Abraham. Your daddy and I love you more than anything in this world. And all you need is love.

Don’t let the glamor shots fool you, this job was a challenge all the way around— not so much the decor, but the curveballs the universe decided to throw out team this week. We still showed up, despite late nights in the ER, devastating news, and intense heartbreak. When setting a holiday scene for clients, you can increase the value of your service by— 1. Adding cozy touches that you’d find outside of your balloon wholesaler or craft store. Look in places like Target, Kirkland’s, HomeGoods, and even home stores like West Elm for holiday and home decor that really lends your setup that inviting holiday feel. 2. Pick an elevated and unexpected color palette. For Christmas, everyone goes for the traditional primary red and green. Not us! We’re going for shades of olive, cream, and champagne. 3. Don’t skimp on the details. If you’ll be using backdrops, ensure your paint is a dead-on match. If you’re incorporating signage, ensure that it’s level and properly spaced; spring for wood or acrylic if you have the budget, to add depth and texture. 4. Don’t ignore the floor! A wrap, a platform, a rug, a bed of greenery— adding floor elements to your Christmas display will give you the magical transformation you’re looking for. 5. If at all possible, request plenty of setup time from your client. Without the pressure of time, you are free to approach your installation thoughtfully as an artist would. Want to learn more?
