10/23/2023
I wrote a draft of this post entitled “Dear Universe” in January and saved it on my phone. I set a deadline for myself to complete our 23' - 24' seasons, which marks 15 wonderful and fulfilling years as DGE. But the time has come to share a piece of my world with you below:
Let me start with … once upon a time in 2009, a 30-year-old woman quit her full-time job as an event planner to start her own business. Having no prior business experience, she didn’t have a plan, a website, or even business cards. However, what she did possess was the ability to produce epic events accompanied by a hunger, discipline, and passion to learn.
Some say starting a business is a 50-50 shot, and they might be right however, my journey has shown that starting and maintaining a successful business requires only a little bit of talent along with a whole lot of luck — and I sure have been one lucky gal!
While this journey has certainly been wild and fulfilling — after much thought, preparation, discussions, and consideration, I am ready to announce that 2024 will be our grand finale.
These past 15 years have truly been a blessing. It has been such a privilege to meet, work alongside, and share in milestones with the creatives, couples, and families we’ve met, collaborated, and celebrated with.
We have built a lifetime of friendships along the way. While this decision is bittersweet, as it is with most industry professionals who make it this far, my body is tired and needs to rest and heal. My creative mind yearns for something new and different, my heart searches for a more quiet and peaceful life — and I have always chosen to follow my heart and feed my soul.
My sincere thanks go out to all our clients over the past decade and a half who have placed their trust and faith in DGE. To all the vendors who created and produced magic with us every weekend, thank you! To my team, some who have stood beside me for over a decade, if not close to — your loyalty is unmatched and unwavering and I am forever humbled by your belief and support in me and the little company we have built together.
As I post this, I am tearing up with gratitude, and my heart is so full! Your relationships and support have been immeasurable and the core of our company. I look forward to seeing you all in the next chapter. You will certainly be seeing me again. Onwards! xoxo
Forever grateful,
Maggie
