🙌🏻 Family Literacy Awareness Month has gotten off to a great start, as we are enjoying our partnership with The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo 🦒📖🦔

🙌🏻Thank you to our amazing Friends of SBLC for Storytime and to Nicole and Rachael, our amazing Zookeepers, for their expertise on our African Giraffes and African Crested Porcupines.

November is National Family Literacy Awareness Month and is a time to recognize the importance of reading together as a family.

The word literacy is defined as the ability to read, write, speak and listen in a way that lets us communicate effectively and make sense of the world.

Family literacy programs build on families' strengths and provide the tools and support they need to become stronger and more self- sufficient.

SBLC will be out in the community during November, reading books to children, visiting schools, holding help classes for adults, youth, parents, and volunteers as well as putting books in the hands of our community. Be sure to stay tuned…

We had such a blast at our first Bluey Day!!! Bluey met all of the kids and sat down for a story time!! Bluey will be back May 16 and June 20!! Both days are full but make sure to sign up for the waitlist and keep an eye out for more dates when Bluey comes back!! Cost: $20 a child A special thank you to Susan Bartholomew with South Baldwin Literacy Council for reading with Bluey!!
