The French word for sunflower is “tournesol,” which means “turns with the sun.” In their bud phase, sunflowers will literally seek out and face the sun. This trait is called heliotropism.
Also, did you know, Sunflowers have been planted to help soak up nuclear radiation? Sunflowers are known as “phytoremediators” because they can naturally remove heavy metals from contaminated soil and radioactive isotopes from the air and water without harming the soil or surrounding ecosystem. This process is called phytoextraction.

Ellie’s Garden bouquet shipping out today! 💐
This bouquet was designed last year inspired by the live flowers growing in my garden. A vibrant display of dahlias, knock-out roses, African daisies, and purple pansies.
One of my all time favorites!
Pretty sure this was my favorite piece from arts fest last weekend! So many people commented on how hydrangeas are their favorite flower.
It was purchased and gifted to a special someone for this reason, and I hope she enjoys it for years to come!

Another great weekend at Manayunk Arts Fest! Thanks to all who came out despite the absolutely insane heat. We still had the best time engaging and sharing my art with Philly festival goers. Also, huge shoutout to for this amazing thermos! It’s not easy being a breastfeeding mom while doing a two day art festival in a rare northeastern heatwave that’s for sure!

All of my custom orders are special to me, and I take pride in creating unique pieces. But a bridal recreation is something totally different….
You are recreating a moment that’s already happened. A memory that already exists in the mind and heart of the individual for whom I’m creating.
For this reason, the added pressure is on to make sure I get it right!

Flashback Friday! It was June last year when I first met Kasey and Chad at Manayunk Arts Festival in Philadelphia. Kasey let me know how much they loved wood flowers, and that she had purchased them for her wedding bouquets!
The couple envisioned having beautiful arch arrangements and boutonnières to match for their October wedding , so we knew then that our meeting was meant to be.

Workshop coming up! The first one was SUCH A HIT, so we had to do it again! and I have collaborated to bring you a unique experience for artistic expression, floral arranging, relaxation and wellness.
Join us on June 8th in Newton (4pm-7pm) and June 9th in Doylestown (2pm-5pm)! You will create your own wood flower arrangement with me from start to finish, while learning about sola wood and other floral tips and tricks, followed by a 45 min salt therapy session in the Salt Cave.

My mom was visiting us this week to take care of our sweet Delilah so I could attend the Wood Flower Florists Conference and Retreat in Cleveland.
She actually lives on Singer Island in Palm Beach Shores, FL, the coolest little beach town you ever did see! This piece was painted for her by Mary Campbell a local Palm Beach Artist.
Before she left, she said “Ellie, I really need a bouquet to match my painting so everyone can see it when they come to the front door.”
I got you mom! We miss her already, and can’t wait for the next visit!

As I get back into work mode this week I’m also reflecting on my experience attending the Conference and Retreat this past weekend.
