ABOUT THE BLOOMIN’ BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL:
On behalf of the Farmers Branch City Council and its hundreds of employees and volunteers, we welcome you to the festival and are glad you’re joining us!
Beginning in 2011, the Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival began as a collaboration between the City of Farmers Branch and the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation to bring top tier, traditional bluegrass music to north Texas and feature it in an outdoor festival setting.
The City of Farmers Branch is a vibrant and progressive city in the Dallas/FW metro area and is home to 30,000 residents and corporate offices. Proclaimed the “City in a Park,” Farmers Branch offers a unique lifestyle setting that appeals to those no matter if they come to live, work or play. To learn more about our wonderful city, please visit Discover Farmers Branch.
The Bluegrass Heritage Foundation’s mission is to preserve and promote the heritage of bluegrass music in America, with a focus on promoting bluegrass music in Texas. The Foundation seeks to educate the public about this distinctly American form of music with roots in Irish, Scottish, and English traditional music through educational programs and workshops, public performances of bluegrass music, historic preservation efforts, and other similar programs.
Together these two entities have successfully built one of the top bluegrass events not only in Texas, but in the country, with Bloomin’ Bluegrass being nominated numerous times by the IBMA as “Bluegrass Festival of the Year.” To see our long history of outstanding festival lineups by year, please click here.
The setting of the event takes place in the award-winning Farmers Branch Historical Park, a historic house museum located on 27 beautiful acres in the middle of the north Texas Metroplex. Home to a dozen structures, historically preserved as well as replicas, that trace the history of Farmers Branch, Peters Colony, and north Texas. In addition to the Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival, the Park hosts programs throughout the year as well as private events.
Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival features two stages and two days of traditional and progressive Bluegrass along with offerings of Americana and country sounds. In addition to the sounds from the stages, one can also find impromptu jam sessions throughout the festival grounds. These jam sessions all happen organically and can easily comprise of a dozen, talented musicians sharing their love of Bluegrass. We encourage one and all to bring their instrument of choice, gather your like-minded neighbors and play and pick away!
The festival is also home to the Celebration of Roses, a highly anticipated event that showcases one of Farmers Branch crown jewels, the award-winning Rose Garden. Attendees can get complimentary shuttle service from the Historical Park to the Rose Garden where they can explore the gardens, chat with Master Gardens, build their own bouquet and enjoy live bluegrass music.
No festival in north Texas would not be complete without a selection of mouthwatering food selections that are local favorites, including Mex-Mex, Bar-b-Que, corny dogs, roasted corn and gourmet mac-n-cheese! One can also find a great selection of premium and local craft beers along with wines and frozen wineritas.
Finally, no bluegrass fan should go home empty handed, and after visiting our Marketplace area you’re sure to find a handmade, homemade treasure to commemorate your visit.
