My kids used to say “Mom, wherever we go, you know someone!” A lot of times it does seem that way, I think because of my many years of teaching school. I love the connections I’ve built with families over the years through my life as a teacher.
Bride Katelyn’s brother was in my second grade class many years ago, so I’ve known her parents for a long time! Katelyn’s grandparents even lived in my old neighborhood!

A non-flower post today. It is with a heavy heart I share that we had to say goodbye to our sweet, sweet Stevie last night. She was my Flower Studio shadow, always at my side. She thought everyone who came to the studio was there to see her! With a scrunchy smile and a shaky butt wiggle, she made clients and my flower friends happy. Often times, when the studio was full of people and flowers, I’d tuck her bed under my work table, and she snore so loud we could hear it above the music! Stevie outlived her life expectancy by 2.5 years-so we are more than grateful for the time we had with her, but it still wasn’t long enough. I know she is basking in the sun, chasing tennis balls, is pain free and snoring loudly for all in heaven to hear.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown my face around here, and with some new pics from the super talented .co, I figured this was as good of a time as any.
Here are a 10 fun, non flower related facts, you might not know about me:
• I’m a Gemini. May all the way!
• I’m a sucker for Frenchies, though
I own an Olde English Bulldog.
• The sound of a baby laughing is my absolute favorite sound, it just makes me smile.
• Once upon a time I was a runner and even ran a marathon. Walking suits me just fine now.
• I have 6 friends named Kelly/Kelle
• No green thumb for me-I can barely keep houseplants alive!
• I’m from a tiny town in Upstate NY that no one’s ever heard of, but have lived in Utah for 30+ years.
• When asked what my favorite flowers are, I’ll usually say; tulips (the naughty teenagers of the flower world), ranunculus, and dahlias.
• I got my first tattoo at the age of 45, and a few more since then!
• Though I don’t teach school anymore,
I still love school supplies! Give me new pens, a planner, and lined paper, and I’m a happy girl. 📚

Gratitude is so important. I feel like it keeps me grounded. It’s the feeling that stops you in your tracks and catches you slightly unsteady but on firm ground. Gratitude brings me peace. As I round out this year’s prom season, I am filled with extreme thankfulness. Yes, I know this photo has nothing to do with prom, but I am grateful for cake too! 🤗🤗

Isn’t the journey of life so interesting? As a young child, I knew I was born to be a teacher. That was the path I followed for many years - I loved teaching. I was good at it. I may have even been a great teacher. With floral design, I still have the opportunity to teach, but I can follow the creative calling of flowers. Now, as my children are grown, it has been such a joy to watch their journey. What are they good at? What is their passion? This journey of life is not always a direct path. One of the first hashtags I used at the beginning of my Floral career is because that is who I thought I was. Our paths are not destined or predetermined. We have to find our way amongst the detours and roadblocks. What is your journey? I’d love to hear your story in the comments below.

An entire month. I haven’t posted anything in One. Whole. Month. And here’s why…. My husband was sick, and I of course, caught whatever he had. Negative Covid. Negative Strep. But whatever we had, mine turned into pneumonia! Just prior to the pneumonia diagnosis I was also having some not so fun symptoms that required an ultrasound and a biopsy! Thankfully, all normal results! So. Very. Thankful. Recovering from being sick was no joke. Did I mention that this all started at the end of January, and continued through Valentine's Day -only THE worst time for a floral designer to be sick. Again-so very thankful. This time, thankful for friends and flower friends who stepped in, stepped up and took over!
I'm back now and booking weddings into 2025. Let's get you on my calendar before your date is taken. 🌸
