Hands on Art is a local art studio that started in 2012, with the goal of offering a place for children to explore art in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. This idea was born after the founder Iraima Otteson volunteered for a few years on an elementary school, offering free art classes to students who wanted to submit their entries for the PTA Reflections contest, and she witnessed firsthand how art impacted children academically and improved their behavior.
Since them, Iraima Otteson’s goal has been to create a place for kids to explore creativity, learn real art techniques, and grow in confidence throughout the process of creating. Iraima Otteson believes that the most important tool we can offer our kids is creativity and confidence, no matter what carrier individuals pursue, doctors, architects, engineers or lawyers, creativity and confidence will make the difference in between an average to successful professional.
Hands on Art continues expanding its reach by offering the lager access to materials and equipment for kids to explore art in all its different forms. From fundamental drawing Hands on art expose children to watercolor, pastel, oil pastel, color pencil, acrylic, woodcut printing, screen printing or serigraphy (the process of creating a design and printing T-shirts), clay building (pottery), ceramic painting and other 3D mediums as papier mache and up-cycle.
