The Swinney Conservatory of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts have long histories of excellence on the campus of Central Methodist University. The Division of Fine and Performing Arts offers undergraduate opportunities for a major in Music, Music Education, Music Performance (vocal and keyboard), Theatre Arts, or Theatre Arts leading to teaching certification, and opportunities for a minor

in Music, Theatre Arts, or Art. Ensembles, productions, and scholarships are open to all qualified students regardless of major.

At Central’s Got Talent, high school seniors interested in band, choir, or praise band have the opportunity to compete for two FULL-TUITION scholarships renewable for all four years regardless of major!

Congratulations to the following students who attended Central Region National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions October 27-28 at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL:

Mallory Boyer, Lower Undergraduate Treble Contemporary Commercial Music - 1st place (eligible to participant in the National Student Auditions)

Anna Pendergrass, Upper Undergraduate Musical Theater - Semi-finalist and Musical Theater Performance Class participant

Mallory Boyer, Lower Undergraduate Musical Theater - Semi-finalist

Lauren Shields, Lower Undergraduate Classical, Treble

Mariah Nichols, Lower Undergraduate Musical Theater, Treble

Paul Reinert, Upper Undergraduate Musical Theater, TBB

Jackson Strain, Upper Undergraduate Musical Theater, TBB

Students prepared 3-4 pieces of memorized music to present to adjudicators in their division, attended performance classes, and made connections with students and teachers from other colleges and universities during the two-day conference and auditions. Swinney Conservatory is so proud of their hard work and dedication to the art of singing!
