Oh, how we love to watch you grow 🌱

Sprouts of all shapes and sizes are growing for our 2025 garden. Right now, we've started scabiosa, salvia, foxgloves, butterfly flowers, and many other spring flowers. We still have a lot to sow, but we are off to a good start.

What flowers are you starting inside this year?

Garden friends, I need advice!

I have a bunch of garden statues throughout my growing space. They came with my house when we bought it, and I love them dearly. That being said, my main statue is starting to show its age, and I want to preserve it as best as I can!

What is the best way for me to preserve it? Should I keep the lichen on or try and get it off? Is there something I can seal the statue with?

Most of my other statues just need a fresh coat of paint, but I'm curious what the best paint is for concrete statues like these.

I would love to hear any tips and tricks for garden statue care!

We are so excited to see these blooms again!

Daffodils hold a special place in my heart. They are usually some of the first flowers to bloom in spring. Each year, they multiply, adding more blooms to the garden. There are so many absolutely stunning varieties; I want to collect them all!

Here are some of our favorites we are looking forward to seeing again!

💛 Tazetta Avalanche

🤍Erlicheer

It may be snowing outside, but in my mind, I'm here 🌷😌❄️

It's hard to believe that spring will be here in just over a month. Our tulips and daffodils are just beginning to peek through the soil, but soon, we will have bright blooms!

We’ve got sprouts! 🌱

The first of many seeds have been started and they are beginning to sprout. Seeing the first little sprout always gives me a boost of joy. It is amazing what a tiny seed grows into.

Here is a list of some of the flowers we are starting in February for early bloom this spring!

🌼Foxglove
I start mine inside around February, that way they are a decent size when I transplant them out in a month or so.

🌼Snapdragons
Snapdragons do well in the cool season and bloom pretty early. I start sowing mine now inside so I can plant them out early in the spring.

🌼Poppies
Seeds can be sown now into the garden! Poppies need a period of cold before they will germinate so planting them will give you blooms early in the spring.

Keep in mind I am growing in zone 7b where our last frost date is around April 15th. Be sure to check your own last frost for planting in your own garden!

If you are itching to get your garden cleaned up, read this!

As we get closer and closer to spring you may feel the itch to get outside and clean up your garden. Cleaning up your garden too early can mean the harm to beneficial insects like bees and butterflies. By keeping the pollinators in mind while you tidy up you give them a better chance of making it to spring.

Here's how 👇🏼

🦋 Wait to cut back your perennials

Beneficial insects use hollow stems as homes for the winter. Waiting to cut back your perennials helps keep the bugs safe until the temperatures are a bit more mild.

🐝 Leave leaf litter in place

Leaves left behind from the fall act as insulation for overwintering insects. Leaves break down into rich organic matter for your garden that is full of nutrients.

🦋 Create a "messy corner"

If you are really itching to get outside and start cleaning up your garden, consider making a "messy Corner" Allowing for insects to continue to shelter for the winter

🐝 Observe before you remove

Check stems and leaves for signs of life, like cocoons and chrysalises before clearing them away.

Ensure your garden is filled with pollinators this season!

Just in case you need a reminder 🫶🏼

Winter is a time of pause, reflection, and rest. The garden looks so empty and bare, but beneath the surface, roots focus on growth that can't be seen. Reflecting on my own, I try to remember that growth isn't always tangible. Some of the most important growth is invisible to the naked eye, just like the growth in the garden right now.

So take a page out of nature and give yourself a little grace. Your flowers will bloom in time; focus on your roots for now.

Snowed in ❄️🌿

Over the last few days we've gotten over 11 inches of snow! The garden is looking like a winter wonderland with snow up to the lip of the bird bath. The wind has created crazy snow drifts everywhere!

We are happy to stay inside although someone is enjoying the snow quite a bit (swipe to see 🐶).

Mini Dried Wreaths ✨

These little wreaths have been my latest obsession. They are so cute hanging on the wall or as a tea light holder. I am happily spending the day creating a bunch of these for our holiday market this weekend!

What color combos would you like to see in a mini wreath? Let me know in the comments! 🌿
