Getting Lisianthus trays seeded today! These special air prune trays really help the plants develop a strong root system but they are a little messy to fill. My potting shed is their destination once they germinate and get a few sets of leaves. I’ll start ranunculus and anemones next month in the basement. It’s all a part of the work that makes those gorgeous flowers in summer.

Thank you to all my farm market customers and friends who voted for Blue Jar Farm to receive the Bronze award for Farm Market Vendor. I’m so very humbled to receive this award. It’s been wonderful to see familiar faces this month around town as I shopped. Looking forward to beautiful flowers again in 2025, starting with tulip, anemone and pansy sales in May!

Fresh Soups at Slagle's Family Farm! Come on out to F***h Saturday and don’t forget your order pies for Thanksgiving!

Soups make great gifts, especially for those living alone
Soup Making Day in the kitchen. We cooked down 5 nescos of chickens and turkeys for 24hrs to make bone broth. Now today, utilizing mostly our produce preserved from the field, we made Creamy Broccoli-cauliflower-chicken, chicken and wild rice, turkey noodle, and creamy white turkey chili. They will be froze and made available in 2 cup microwavable dishwasher safe containers starting when we are open Saturday 10-3cdt. After Thanksgiving we will be making more varieties of soups. Still taking orders for Thanksgiving Pies and Buckeyes.

The garden is ready to sleep for a while! Raised beds are full and ready to plant ranunculus and anemones in April. Tulips are planted for sale at pop-ups around Mothers Day. I still have bouquets for sale at the hospital made from locally sourced flowers. Thank you to all my farm market customers for a fun year, miss our Saturdays and your smiling faces. In a world where you can be anything, be kind first❤️
