It was an honor to take photos at Thomas & Lexie’s wedding! There are so many highlights from the day that I couldn’t decide what to put into a single post, so I’ll be posting a few photos from various parts of the wedding day. Today is all about the details and venue.

There were some pretty important details to capture at this wedding, including Lexie’s dress that was worn by her mother at her wedding and rings that were handmade by Lexie’s father! When I heard about the rings, I went out and purchased a new RF100mm macro lens to capture every detail and I’m so glad I did. They were stunning!

Also, the getaway car was a beautiful blue corvette that maybe needs its own photoshoot someday! Despite the grief people were giving Thomas over the last time he drove manual transmission, he rocked it!

Tycast Family, 2023 (Part 2)

The Tycast girls are all varsity athletes in different sports, so we did a few fun shots of them in uniform as part of their family session!

In 2005, Mrs. Tycast changed my life. As my band teacher in my first year of high school, I distinctly remember going to her office before the first pep band event and telling her I couldn’t come because I didn’t know all the music. To my surprise, she said to come anyway and fake it.

I had always wanted to be a teacher, but it wasn’t until I joined LMPM, my high school’s pep band, that I knew I wanted to be a band teacher. I fell in love with it.

Fast-forward 18 years to today and I am honored to call Nora Tycast, Schmitt Music’s 2023 Educator of the Year, a colleague and friend.

Mrs. Tycast showed me that a big part of teaching is simply opening the doors for students to try new things. You never know which door is going to lead students down lifelong paths.

Thanks, Tycast family, for inviting me down for a photoshoot! Best of luck, girls, in your activities this year!

Lily Davis, Class of 2024

I’ve done several photoshoots along the riverwalk and have always found this overhanging tree to be a nice natural frame for subjects, but no one has ever taken me up on the offer to climb up into the tree for a photo until now! Despite the cold, wet weather, Lily agreed to give it a try. Lily, thanks for being adventurous!

Lance Johnson, Class of 2024

Story time! We took Lance’s photos two days after the homecoming game. While we were out, Lance said he was sore from the game, but didn’t complain when I asked him for some action shots. A couple days (and an X-ray) later, it turns out he had a fractured rib! Sorry, Lance! Thanks for being such a good sport!

Jackson Lysne, Class of 2024

There are some students I see often around the music department, but rarely interact with beyond a friendly exchange of “hello’s.” Jackson is one of those people. When he reached out about senior photos, I was super excited because we would actually have time to visit together, which was great! Best of luck this year, Jackson! I’m excited to see what’s in store for you next year!

I’ve been asked to take photos for homecoming again this year! Monday night was coronation, and yesterday was the royalty tour around town to Pioneer Care, Park Gardens, Productive Alternatives, Mill Street Residence, and bowling.

One of my favorite things about doing these senior photos is that I get to reconnect with some students I haven’t seen in a while. I had Ryan in band for several years and now I have his brother in eighth grade. It was a great night hanging out with the Formo family and catching up on life since ninth grade! Have a great senior year, Ryan!

Part two of Thomas and Alexis’ session! There were too many people at the fair to do some more classic engagement photos, so we headed the few blocks over to Como Lakeside Pavilion and shot a few before sunset. I’m excited to shoot their wedding next month!!
