Poppy Seed made it through the night and ate her breakfast which is a win we can celebrate!
However, she is in critical condition. She is very anemic from so much blood loss and will actually receive a blood transfusion later today. Her white blood cell count is very high as well. She's napping after breakfast and we have her on a lot of pain meds, so she is resting 🩷. She did stand up earlier but too weak to walk. We are so happy she has function in her legs, even with all that damage. We'll keep you updated throughout the day and hope the blood transfusion will help her.

The first House of Mercy opened 195 years ago on Sept. 24 in Dublin, Ireland and is marked around the world with celebrations on the day and throughout the week.

We thought it a fitting time to share this photo to highlight our roots in faith and prayer. During a recent hospitalization, a patient's family and friends gathered to pray together outside the ICU waiting room and this was the view his wife and son saw when they looked out. The group had no idea their prayer circle formed a heart when viewed from above with Catherine McAuley, Mercy's founder, at the center.

The patient is now doing well and his wife attributes that to his Mercy team and the power of prayer.
