A fun new trend a few of my couples have done. Media moment. Phones are only allowed during this time to take pics of the couple. This keeps phones out of the photographer's way and keeps the guests present in the moment during the ceremony. I am loving this trend. I get to take a selfie with my couples and then begin the ceremony. It's a great way to start a ceremony. ❤️

This is actually a repost of a statement I made last year in another group.

“I regularly have to clarify on social media who can officiate a wedding in Colorado...Again!
This was my response to a thread complaining about how much officiants charge.

“Yes, anyone can read a ceremony, but they cannot “sign” the Marriage License as the officiating person...PERIOD!
The only ones allowed to sign as the Officiating person is an Ordained minister, pastor, priest, rabbi, Imam, tribal official, court official or the couple can self solemnize on their own.

This is why people seek Ordination online!

For many of us who are professional officiants, this how we make a living. We are skilled in writing ceremonies that are beautiful and celebrate your story.

We are skilled in holding the beauty and dignity of your wedding day.

We know how to work with planners, photographers, videographer, and the venue staff!
A well trained and committed Officiant loves what they do and are worth every penny they ask for and yet officiants are one of the least expensive things in the wedding budget.

I come from a Clergy background and most of my Clergy colleagues find wedding season a burden and only serve their congregations.

Officiants can be Clergy or not but some will perform hundreds of weddings each year.
I have been called to officiate weddings where the relative, best friend, even family minister failed to show up!
I’ve been called into a wedding where the officiant was hired off of Craigslist for $25.00 and no one knew that it was his first wedding. He was totally in shock with 200 guests and couldn’t come out of hiding in the bathroom at the venue.

So let me say this, there are amazing and caring officiants that would love to officiate your wedding and set a fair value for their services, and are worth the prices they set.

My colleagues that are working in Colorado are dedicated, caring, professionals...Call Them-Pay Them-and don’t forget to tip them!”
