July 4th has passed so it’s basically fall now right? 😅 Juuust kidding. For us in Virginia, we’ve got a couple more months of heat. But this year, we have the greenhouse, Enchantry and cottage to decorate!! We’ll be seeing the cottage in the fall for the first time right alongside you. So excited! 🍁🧡🍄‍🟫

My goal for those two plants on either side is to vine up the wood. I found those babies on our family vacation! Since everything in the cottage has a name, I named them Feyre and Rhysand. As one does. 🌙✨ Each time we add a plant, it just gets cozier and cozier, if that’s even possible. 🌿

You know how I know we’re doing what God wants us to do? Because of satan.

We thought the battle we fought last year was hard, but I can’t even begin to tell you the spiritual warfare that has been brought down on us for the cottage. We’ve kept much of the struggle private, but I can tell you without a doubt, this was the hardest, most stressful, most difficult thing we’ve ever done. It’s so abundantly clear that God wants this structure here, because of how glaringly obvious the war satan has brought on us has been.

What we went through to get the cottage completed on time for our spring season (physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, psychologically, spiritually)… I wouldn’t wish on our worst enemy. There is more to the story, but for now, we’re so happy to share that we’ve received our Certificate of Occupancy from the county. We’ve had the temporary CO but now it’s official. After a total of 491 days, the cottage is now officially 100% complete. ✅

We’re working with our friends over at on a light tunnel for the cottage! What we came up with for the greenhouse is amazing and I can’t wait to show you what the cottage light tunnel will look like! ✨ Our greenhouse tunnel shown here with our Candlelight package. 🕯️

For the front door, I really wanted it to be a circle. Not an oval or an arch, like we were pushed to settle for. There are many circles at the cottage and I like to think of them as portals to different realms. For the ironwork, I drew a rough sketch for what I wanted, found an ironworker on Etsy and he made my drawings a reality. The door itself is close to 200lbs so the hinge had to function, support the weight and look good doing it. And of course, pay respect to Lord of the Rings. 🧙‍♂️✨
