The City of Forney is excited to announce that Texas country music icon Cory Morrow will be headlining the first annual Forney BBQ Cook-off and Festival at the Spellman Amphitheater, 241 S. FM 548, on June 3 and 4. Morrow, a legendary member of the Red Dirt music scene, has sold over 200,000 albums independently and recently released a new record, titled "The Good Fight".
The BBQ Cook-off and Festival will kick-off with some Friday night family-fun that includes an all ages steak cook-off, Texas Corn Hole League Tournament and "Movies in the Park" showing of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”. The festival will continue on Saturday with a Blue Star Memorial dedication at the opening ceremony, afternoon performances by Jerod Casey, Canaan Bryce, Austin Layne, Matt Fisher, and Sons of Fannin, followed by a FREE evening concert with Jeff Allen, John David Kent and Cory Morrow. Vendors will also be on site selling BBQ all day long. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Forney Food Pantry.

Registration is still open for anyone who would like to compete in the cook-off. The entry fee is $100 for one or all meats, there is also a $10 entrance fee for jackpot pinto beans and cobbler. The cook-off will be sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society (LSBS), LSBS rules and regulations can be found on the City's website. It is not necessary to be a LSBS member to compete.
