Breaking news!
The winners are (in order of their contributions):
1. James Williamson from Brevard, NC is the Top Donor in 2023 after coming in second in 2022.
2. Michael McQueen from Asheville, NC is runner-up, moving up from fifth in 2022.
3. Andrew Moffatt from Huntsville, AL came in third. His achievement is notable because he only signed up at Trailcare in April 2023.
4. Geoff Baker is from Bella Vista, AR and he knocked fellow Ozark native Nathan Forst from the local top donor throne.
5. Nathan Forst from Bentonville, AR, was the Top Donor in 2020, 2021 and 2022. He was finally dethroned by James Williamson.
6. Tim Basl from Asheville, NC doesn’t need any introduction. Last year he was third and the biggest donor in the first LuvTrails Challenge – Pisgah, held in partnership with Pisgah Area SORBA.

All of the Top 6 Donors are members of the exclusive LuvTrails Trailjar Club for donors who donated to three or more Trailcare-listed volunteer trail groups. In total, they contributed $3,972 to more than 25 volunteer trail organizations by riding their mountain bikes for more than 15,000 miles in 2023!

Arrie is the CEO of LuvTrails, Inc, and is passionate about giving back to the many wonderful trails out there. He is also a journalist, marketer, product developer, and amateur cyclist.

AFTER a decade-long hiatus the HAMR Fall Fest in Huntsville, AL is back with a vengeance. Lots of exciting activities are planned for the weekend of 6 – 8 October at Monte Sano State Park, like Strava-based bike races, donation challenges, most miles competitions, shuttles, demo bikes, group rides, scavenger hunts, poker rides, games, music, food, swag, and more.
Huntsville Area Mountain bike Riders - HAMR is a chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) and partnered with LuvTrails-Trailcare to use our unique Strava-based Trailcare donation app for fundraising for trail maintenance in Monte Sano and several other parks in and around Huntsville.
During the Fall Fest participants will be encouraged to use the Trailcare app to donate to HAMR by riding (and/or running and hiking) in the park and recording their activities. Congratulations to this year’s winners of the LuvTrails SORBA Challenge and thank you to everyone who donated to the 24 chapters that took part. There was great participation across the region and we are already looking forward to future events! Tim Basl from Asheville, NC, was the top donor and Chris Summerlin from Greensboro, NC, turned in the most miles. Scott Miller of Winston Salem, NC, was also awarded the Trailboss award for donating to the most SORBA chapters with supporting four different organizations. Great work and thank you for participating!

All participants in the LuvTrails SORBA Challenge have until midnight tonight to upload their Strava activities of the past 59 days (the duration of the Challenge from 4/10-5/31/23). All Strava activities in geofenced areas of the 24 participating SORBA Chapters count towards the competition. Then we'll run the numbers and announce the winners in the Top Donor and Top Miles categories early next week.

Thank you to all trail users that have participated in this first-of-its-kind Challenge to benefit SORBA Chapters. Hundreds of miles were logged and generous per-mile pledges were made to help the SORBA trail volunteers to manage and maintain the trails.

TOP DONOR! Congratulations to Nathan Forst of Bentonville, AR. He is the Top Donor in the LuvTrails Trailblazers Challenge held in April. Nathan has a history of being the top donor to the trail volunteers of We Are Trailblazers maintaining the great trails in and around Bentonville, Bella Vista, and Rogers. Trail users are reaching into their pockets (or their Trailcare accounts!) to support the trail volunteers who build and maintain hundreds of miles of trails all over the Southeast.
Twenty-four Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association Chapters in seven states in the Southeast are taking part in the first LuvTrails SORBA Challenge - a fundraising event to support the work of the chapters.

With the first half of the Challenge (running from 4/10 to 5/31/23) done, the Top Donors are lining up to win the top prizes at the end of May. Currently, the top 10 are:

The leading conference of Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association starts tomorrow (4/14/23) in Marion, NC. LuvTrails-Trailcare will be at the event on Friday and Saturday to encourage SORBA Chapters to sign up for Trailcare per-mile donations.

The first-ever LuvTrails SORBA Challenge starts on Monday in seven Southeastern states. It allows all trail users - riders, runners, hikers, walkers (and even one-wheelers!)- to donate directly to local SORBA volunteer groups based on the miles spent on listed trails.
Trail users can sign up at www.trail.care for per-mile donations and record their activities on supported (geofenced) trails in the seven states from April 10 to May 31, 2023. (For more information on geofencing and how donations are calculated visit www.trail.care).
Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association has 48 chapters in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee - an association of riders full of passion for their sport, and works to create, enhance, and preserve great mountain biking experiences.
April brings Spring weather and May is National Bike Month - two perfectly good reasons to enjoy the trails and give back to the people who build and maintain them for all to enjoy.

Okay, people, the stoke for the LuvTrails Trailblazers Challenge happening in Bentonville, Bella Vista, and Rogers, AR this month has just reached a new high. are.trailblazers , the non-profit trail organization that manages the .tap TAP , has announced that they are adding two new event categories to reward donors using the Strava-linked Trailcare donation tool.
1. “Top Miles” is a new category that will give trail users who might not want to compete in the “Top Donor” category, but can spend many hours on the trails riding, running or just walking, a chance to win great prizes too. Three local retailers, and have added a bunch of really cool prizes. What does a Moosejaw Ice Fort 25-Quart Hard Cooler plus an ENO Hammock sound like?
2. The third category added makes us very excited – the “New Donor SignUp” category for trail users who sign up at www.trail.care (and donate at least $5) during the Challenge from 4/1/23 until midnight on 4/30/23. We’re talking about a Kali Full-face MTB Helmet sponsored by Mojo Cycling!

There is really no excuse for any trail user not to sign up and donate to support the great maintenance work of the trail volunteers who look after the hundreds of miles of trails in NWA. LUVTRAILS-TRAILCARE and the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) have partnered to bring the SORBA & LuvTrails Challenge this Spring.
From April 10th until May 31st, 2023 participants can ride, run, hike, or walk on SORBA-maintained trails and donate directly to participating chapters.
SORBA is a non-profit trail advocacy organization with 47 Chapters in seven states–Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
This is a seven-week-long virtual event to coincide with the SORBA Camp being held next week (4/10 - 4/16) and National Bike Month in May. It will last for 52 days and allow participants to do activities as much as they like within the “geofenced” trails maintained by SORBA Chapters.
When you sign up for the LuvTrails SORBA Challenge at www.trail.care and link your Strava account you also pledge an amount per mile as a donation to SORBA Chapters. After you record a ride on Strava (must be public), you are sent an email to confirm your donation for that ride. The number of miles you ride in 52 days multiplied by the amount you pledged per mile will determine the total donation at the end of the event.
Everything comes down to the choice and effort of each individual participant and you have total control over your final donation. Lots of great prizes and rewards are on offer for the Top Donors and Most Miles completed.
Thanks to the generosity of event sponsors supportive of SORBA and trail advocacy–and their love for the cycling community of the Southeast–great prizes will be handed out to lots of participants, from top-notch cycling gear and accessories to substantial discounts at outdoor lifestyle stores.

In 2022 we launched "LuvTrails Challenge" fundraising events with a very successful virtual fundraiser in Pisgah National Forest and Bent Creek for Pisgah Area SORBA. It was followed by several more events to benefit non-profit trail groups.
Next month we kick off the 2023 season of LuvTrails Challenge events - much bigger and better and with lots of fun (and prizes!) included.
This year we look forward to a fundraising Challenge that will span seven Southeastern States and multiple volunteer trail organizations - some of the biggest in the nation.
And, like last year, we partner with the very dynamic and progressive volunteer organization in Northwest Arkansas to incentivize trail users to contribute directly to the volunteers that maintain the super-cool urban trail network in the Ozarks.
And to add even more excitement to the Challenges LuvTrails-Trailcare has partnered with a major mountain biking and trail running events organization in North Carolina to introduce the Trailcare per-mile donation tool to their iconic event series.
Details about all these opportunities to give back to trail volunteers will be announced soon here and on the partner websites and in social media.
The best part of the 2023 Challenge season is that all trail users can register for free at www.trail.care to participate, whether you ride your bike, run on the trails or just hike or walk for fun. Trail users can register for Strava-linked per-mile donations now and then be on the lookout for the Challenge announcements and plan their activities.
