Here are answers to many of the frequently asked questions about this year’s Shellabration event As a major event with a ton of moving parts, know that we can't respond to everyone's posts and questions individually.
Venue
This year’s venue is located at 901 Central Avenue in historic downtown Fort Dodge. The center of the venue is at the corner of Central Avenue and 9th Street. There are each of three entrances into the venue, one at the corner of Central Avenue and 10th Street, one at the corner of Central Avenue and 8th Street, and one at the corner of 1st Avenue South and South 9th Street.
Parking
All parking for the event is free of charge. There are multiple parking lots surrounding each of the venue entrance points. There is tons of on street parking within blocks of the venue. With the multiple roads leading away from Fort Dodge’s downtown district, all traffic from our downtown events clears the area in roughly 10 minutes. You simply drive away without a wait.
Weather
With a covered stage, we can generally deliver a show if it's raining unless its wind driven and coming in sideways. In the event of weather that poses a public safety threat or physical threat to the artists (wind driven rain, lightning, high winds, hail), we will go into a delay and resume when it's safe to do so. If the threat exists prior to gates opening, we'll delay until the threat passes. Our goal is to deliver a Rick Springfield and The Babys show between 5:00PM and 11:00PM. We'll adjust the schedule accordingly by either starting early or starting later depending on the conditions at the time. We also reserve the right to reduce set lengths or eliminate opening acts if necessary to preserve headliner and direct support set length. The show will not be canceled due to weather unless a threat would persist over the entire 6+ hour timeframe. In the event an evacuation is necessary, you will be instructed via announcements from the stage to seek shelter in the eating and drinking establishments just outside the venue entrances, or in your vehicle. In the event of a weather-related delay, we will update the public every ~15-20 minutes on our Shellabration Inc. page.
Tickets
Tickets are still available in Fort Dodge at Hy-Vee, Availa Bank, First Interstate Bank, GreenState Credit Union, Northwest Bank, Peoples Credit Union (Fort Dodge and Webster City) or online at Ticketweb.com. Seating
All tickets for Shellabration 2024 are general admission, festival style seating. You are encouraged to bring your own bag or lawn chair. We also have a large standing room only (SRO) area directly in front of the stage for those that prefer to stand or dance during the show. Out of respect for the people behind you, sitting on someone else's shoulders is strictly prohibited. Violator's will be removed from the concert. We have plenty of staff in venue to answer your questions and to help monitor the crowd for law enforcement.
Shuttles
While some individual hotels properties provide their own shuttle service, Shellabration does not provide shuttle service. There are each of two cab companies that also provide service locally (Union Cab and Quick Cabs).
Accessibility
There are scores of accessible parking spots throughout the downtown Fort Dodge area. They are available on a first-come, first serve basis. For attendees in wheelchairs, access to the concert venue is entirely on concrete with accessible corner transitions (no curb). Once in the venue, you can sit wherever you choose. We have a dedicated accessible seating area directly in front of the First Interstate Bank building. It is reserved for individuals with special needs and their companions. The rows are outlined in blue duct tape with visible blue signage. We also provide a interpreter for people with hearing impairments. Our interpreter interprets using American Sign Language (ASL) from the left-hand side (facing the stage...audience left). She is illuminated to make her gestures visible from a distance, even in the dark. Attendees can stand in the standing-room-only area directly in front of her position, if they so choose.
Food and Beverages
We have a wide array of food and beverage available for purchase inside the venue including Cheeseburgers, Hamburgers, Brats, Hot Dogs, Pork Chop on a stick, BBQ Pork Sandwiches and Pork Nachos. We have a full array of adult (alcohol) beverages for purchase including Bud Light, Busch Light, Michelob Ultra, Smirnoff Red White & Berry, and four flavors of Nutril (Black Cherry, Orange, Pineapple and Watermelon). Available soft drinks include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Dew, Lemonade, and bottled water. No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed. Attendees may bring in one (1) sealed bottle of water (24oz maximum).
Public Safety
In addition to delivering an exciting show, our top priority is keeping the public safe in the process. Attendee bag chairs and purses are subject to inspection. Patrons will be scanned for weapons including guns and knives. Know that there will be scores of uniformed officers guarding the venue perimeter at the entrance gates and interior venue. There will also be a law enforcement presence atop the surrounding buildings to observe, in the unlikely event of an aerial threat. Finally, there are also staff members observing the crowd for inappropriate behavior serving as ears and eyes for law enforcement. If you see something, say something. Be aware and please behave!
Restricted Items:
No weapons including guns and knives (over three inches)
No pets
No outside food, beverage or coolers
