Join our friends 1504 for an opening ceremony for Joe Minter.

“Joe Minter Is Here” is a community-based art installation of never-before-exhibited work by the artist and ambassador for peace, Joe Minter (b. 1943).

For decades, people have traveled from around the world to visit his sacred art environment, “African Village in America,” where he has used discarded materials to chronicle the Black experience. Today, his work can be found in the most prestigious collections in the country, from The Metropolitan Museum of Art to the National Gallery, but this will be his first solo show in his hometown, amidst a milestone year in which he was named an inaugural recipient of the national Ruth Award.

Located inside a historic warehouse in his Titusville neighborhood, this immersive exhibit will be a landmark moment to celebrate Joe Minter, introduce his story to new generations, and highlight the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

Exhibition Times:
October 3 - 20, 2024
Thursdays – Saturdays: 10 - 6
Sundays: 1 - 5

Remembering and celebrating the incredible soul of Purvis Young on his heavenly birthday! His vibrant spirit and extraordinary art continue to inspire and uplift. Today, we honor the legacy of a truly talented artist who left an indelible mark on the world.
Pompano Beach Arts and FATVillage Arts District presents Purvis Young: The Onliest Thing I Could Mostly Do. Curated by Tayina Deravile, this exhibition aims to celebrate the life and work of the renowned self-taught artist, Purvis Young. Born in Liberty City, but a resident of Overtown, Miami, Young was known for his vibrant, folk art. Young was a storyteller through his art, using his skills to delve into profound social, racial, and political themes. The exhibition will display a variety of Young’s painting. Works donated by The Law Firm of Seiler, Sautter, Zaden, Rimes & Wahlbrink. On view through March 15, 2024.

Article in Florida Weekly - Palm Beach last week about the Red Exhibit at Cornell Art Museum. By the way, the exhibition will be open until February 3.

Roses are red. Violets are blue. And Cornell Art Museum’s walls are blushing with rouge. A color long associated with war, danger, and rage headlines a new exhibition at the Delray Beach venue, but it’s the positive traits of that color that ignite the 39 artworks on view. Not one to be typecast...
