Life in Snapshots

Life in Snapshots I'm Dylan - a photographer & videographer based in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. I've had a camera in my hands all my life.

What started out as a hobby - turned out to be the perfect mix of technical challenge and creative outlet. As a teen I created short films, YouTube series, art projects, instructional videos, and have captured countless special moments for others to cherish and share. After a few years hiatus to focus on my education, traveling abroad, and pursuing a musical career, I woke up craving the creative

outlet that photography & videography provided me. I decided right there and then that I must make it my main priority and ambition. The goal of 'Life in Snapshots' is to show the grace, strength, confidence, and enthusiasm of others - to capture once in a lifetime moments to look back on in the years to come - to travel and share the indescribable beauty that the world has to offer. If that's an affinity that you would like to be a part of, I'm the person to make it happen. Professional & Artistic Portraits

Summer Vacation | Galveston Beach
08.03.2022 | Galveston, TX

Summer is here, and I’ve been spending a lot of time outside for work. I found myself daydreaming about being near the ocean again - or cannonballing into a pool. Either one.

Going back through my catalogue of unshared work, I found these snapshots that I took one night on the beach during our family vacation. We walked down to the beach, with the moon illuminating the sand, and the backlight of nearby beach houses. Glow-sticks, LED lights, and portable speaker in hand. Core memories right here.

Jaybirds - “Off the Record” | Amplify817
Summerglen Library | Kelller, TX | 04.11.2024

In April, Amplify817 and ftworthlibrary hosted “Off the Record” featuring Jaybirds at the Summerglen Library in Keller.

I say this every single time, ad nauseam, but Jaybirds are the most genuine down to earth people that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting throughout my time as a photographer. It’s always a blast to watch them perform and take photos of their sets.

Having a full band, performing heavy hitters in a library feels very strange - wrong even - (SHHHH🤫) but wow, was it fun.

Jaybirds are performing at The Cicada on the 15th, and you should come out and enjoy some music and good hangs!

A few Snapshots from March, of the 10U Clutch Softball team at one of their weekend tournaments in the Red Oak area. It was so windy, cloudy, and freezing out that day, but the overcast sky made for some fantastic diffusion. I’m very pleased with the colors that came out of these shots.

Driving Slow Motion | Harvest House

It's wild that I never posted any of these snapshots - hell, one was even published in the Fort Worth Weekly, but the rest never saw the light of day.. I’m very proud of these, they might be my favorite concert photos I’ve ever taken - even after three years. I guess I wanted to make sure that if I posted them, they would be seen by people and elicit interaction, engagement, and a response. So instead they sat on a hard drive - what a shame.

I hope you enjoy them, as much as I do. I’m in the progress of changing the way do I things; in terms of my struggles with social media and content creation/sharing. So I’ll be posting more from this set in the future, but for now, here are these.

Long time no see!

A few weeks ago Good Latimer invited me out to snap their set at . Typical spring - the weather was looking rather hit or miss. Despite the sporadic clouds of rain, the band put on an energetic set. Always a good time seeing them perform and getting to catch up!

I'm in the process of re-launching my website, but as soon as I do the full gallery will be uploaded there!

If you're a band looking to get photos of your next live performance or need some updated band portraits, send me a message - would love to hear from you!

Video Postcard: July 2022
Main Street Fair - Dartmouth, NS

I've been sorting through loads of old footage, not knowing what to do with all the unused clips. Most of which are too short for a full video, but I like the idea of these little snapshots of time. So, I'll be sharing these Postcards moving forward; not only to keep me motivated to post more, but to share these moments that have been collecting dust over the years.

Stereo Friend at The Cicada / 12.30.2023

Ending the year with a leap of faith; and it couldn’t have been more successful. Stereo Friend band performed their first show Saturday night, at The Cicada, unveiling their new synth pop sound.

Cody & Jacob created Stereo Friend as a side project while playing in the band PinkHouse, which recently went on a hiatus. Guitarist Dan Smith soon joined, setting aside his guitar to dive headfirst into the world of Synthesizers for the first time. Since then, the trio have steadily released four singles throughout the year of 2023, most recent being a top-tier reimagining of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game.

With two months notice for the show, they worked tirelessly to transition smoothly into the technical aspect of live performances; with a key emphasis on electronic instruments, backing tracks, and in-ear monitoring systems- which anyone with live experience knows, can cause enough stress on its own. They put together a cohesive and exciting setlist, pulled in a sizable crowd, and ended the night with a lot of new fans being excited to see what the band has in store for 2024 - as am I!

Went on a family disc-golf outing Sunday and took my camera along. I've been trying to get the rusted wheel moving again regarding video work - mainly the color grading. I love love LOVE how this came out. Would gladly take some feedback!

First video in over a year, just trying to get the rusted wheel moving again. Utilized a family outing, a quick disc golf session at The Church course, to ca...

Lone Star Brahmas VS New Mexico Ice Wolves - Preseason Game - 09.01.2023 (2/2)

(I ended up with so many shots that I loved, that each team needed their own set, so here's the Ice Wolves.)

The New Mexico Ice Wolves were aggressive and relentless. Offense pressure was heavy and the goalie in net was on fire. +35 blocked shots on net and stopped a last-ditch effort shot that could have sent the game into OT.

Lone Star Brahmas VS New Mexico Ice Wolves - Preseason Game - 09.01.2023

An impromptu invite landed me at a midday hockey game on a Friday. Camera in hand, it resulted in some of my favorite shots I’ve taken thus far. I’ll be posting more of the gallery very soon, along with a video I’m working on from clips I shot from that afternoon.

Both teams fought tooth and nail to the very last minute, with the Brahmas scoring their first goal with only two minutes remaining, and just BARELY missing a near clutch goal at the end to tie it up. 2-1 Ice Wolves.

I have been digitizing all of our home movies, consisting of 8mm & VHS tapes. At first it was a bit challenging to nail the process, but the results have been so worthwhile. Can’t wait to have everything archived and backed up!

This week, I was given the incredible opportunity to be featured in the Fort Worth Weekly. () It’s an absolute honor to be included among seven of the most talented and dedicated photographers in the music scene.

Featuring: .gutbezahl.glam.gigs

Sending endless gratitude to Edward Brown () for putting together this piece, which shines a light on the efforts of a handful of photographers in the metroplex who deserve recognition for their hard work and passion that goes into capturing and promoting local talent.

I have been fortunate enough to meet and befriend many amazing individuals, who I may not have had the chance to know if it weren’t for this vibrant music community. Everyone has been so supportive and welcoming, and their kindness and generosity remind me of why I started pursuing photography in the first place. My goal has always been to showcase the talents, passions, and creative goals of others, and I am grateful for every opportunity to do so.

I am deeply thankful for everyone who has supported me, from those who have worked with me to those who have recommended me to friends and loved ones, and even to those who simply engage with my posts. Although I may not have the largest following or reach, the connections I make are long-lasting and important, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This was such an exciting way to start off 2023. It's so important that we support our local artists - photographers, musicians, dancers, writers, and all the rest. These talented people are the heart of our community and they deserve all the love and support we can give them. Let's show them how much we appreciate their hard work and creativity!
