I get inquiries all the time of folks wanting a DJ for a party. They want a DJ to travel to their location, set up the equipment, play music for 4 -8 hours and do it all for $300.00 or less. They don’t understand that i have invested over $5,000 in my equipment and invested many, many hours gathering music for events. I have to load up my truck, drive to their location, set up my equipment about an hour before and then take it all down for another hour and drive back home and unload all the equipment. They call it a small event because there will be around 50 people there. The fact is the number of people doesn’t really matter at all. Whether there are 50 or 500 people there, it’s still the same amount of work and wear on the equipment. I’m writing this so people understand why I charge what I do. And why some people have ”sticker shock” when they receive a quote.
