Did you know? Coming this weekend: WATER-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS SALES TAX HOLIDAY May 25-27, 2024

The Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to support and buy from Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases of certain water-efficient and water-conserving products during the annual Texas Water-Efficient Products Sales Tax Holiday. There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can buy, and you do not need to give the seller an exemption certificate to buy items tax free.

The 2024 holiday begins Saturday, May 25, and goes through Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day).

For more information and a list of eligible purchases, go to: https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/publications/98-1018.php

Fort Worth Orchid Society Meeting
March 4, 2024, 7:00
Fort Worth Botanic Garden Center

Program: Dividing and potting Cattleyas and other sympodial orchids
From Joel: I have always had a passion for plants, since the time he was a little boy. My obsession for orchids began in my 20s while I was attending college. At first, I had many failed attempts at keeping an orchid alive. Just like any other hobby; time, understanding and experience changed all that. I found myself spending hours just researching about the vast orchid plant family and how I could better care for them.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture Business Management and plan to continue my education and research in the future. I now work in a conservatory on a private estate taking care of an orchid collection of about 900, and 300 other various tropical plants. The orchid collection consists of around 47 different genera and over 300 different species of orchids from around the world.

Vote in November for

Proposition 1

The language that will appear on the ballot: “The constitutional amendment protecting the right to engage in farming, ranching, timber production, horticulture, and wildlife management.”

What it means: This amendment would create a constitutional right to farm, ranch, produce timber and manage wildlife on property you own or lease. State agencies would be allowed to regulate these rights only if there’s clear and convincing evidence that the regulation is needed to protect public health from imminent danger; to prevent danger to animal health or crop production; or to conserve the state’s natural resources.
