After planning weddings for over 15 years, we have come to a consensus: cocktail style receptions, make for the best party!
Now this doesn’t mean this style of reception is best for everyone. For the couples who are looking to host a formal, seated, traditional wedding, this is not the route for you.
However, if you are ready to eat, drink, and party ALL. NIGHT. LONG. cocktail style receptions are a must! But why? Why does the structure of this event differ so much from a traditional wedding?
✨Catering: A traditional wedding will allow roughly 1 hour for dinner. With a cocktail style reception, there is food service and various grazing tables replenished for 2+ hours. This means an opportunity for multiple plates for your guests which equates to simply, more food.
✨Connection: If connecting with all of your guests is important to you, this type of reception allows for more time to visit. Although we structure in some of the traditional elements (i.e. first dance, parent dances, toasts), the focus really is on the party. And we love a good party 🥂
✨Seating/Rentals: We encourage our clients to have smaller seating arrangements, cocktail tables with barstools and lounge seating to encourage guests not to “park.” Often time this means you will need to rent more of these elements to bring into your venue. And this is necessary to get people moving and mingling! Like, get your butt up Suzy. Don’t sit in one spot all night long!
