This week I’m visiting Bozeman, MT for our daughter’s orientation! Here are few photos of local flowers and such that draw me in 🥰 Historic homes with white peony hedges, yarrow and catmint rows, pollinator artwork and of course a sweet new kitty friend! It’s fun to see what types of plants do well in this growing zone. I’ve seen heat loving cacti and garden flowers galore. I love this state 💐❤️

For Mother’s Day this year I wanted to spread a little cheer with those who may not have visitors in some of our senior living centers! My mom jumped in her car and zoomed around Gig Harbor and Tacoma dropping off hundreds of tulips at a few of our local rehab, memory care and senior living centers! This is one of the locations that I gave tulips to and the residents were able to make some beautiful bouquets today 💐👏🏻

Experiment Day 2

Photo #1-
I pulled some fresh Apricot Pride tulips from the cooler and cut the bulb and lower leaves off. I decided to place them in a vase with NO water overnight to really make them struggle. Sorry tulips!

Photo #2-
By 10 pm they stared to droop and definitely had softer stems.

Photos #3,4,5-
8 am this morning they were soft and most flowers were facing downwards. I gave each of them an angled cut and removed another leaf then placed in cool water with 1 penny.

Photo #6 and 7-
By 11:30 this am after the cool water, fresh cut and penny addition the tulips are back in action and look great! Nice strong stems, upward facing flowers and petals look rehydrated!

Conclusion: the fresh cut, cool water and penny work well!

Droopy tulips? I wanted to try a few tricks I’ve seen online for reviving tulips so I could offer some advice for future issue if they ever arise! I pulled a bunch of tulips I had leftover from a sale out of the bottom pile in my cooler. These poor things were treated poorly and I would not sell them but they are a perfect specimen to experiment on! I gave them a fresh snip and brewed a hot cup of water in my Keurig and poured it right in with my flowers 🤞🏻 Excited to say the tulips opened (swipe to see results!) within an hour and are happy! Mint not so much but I’ll live with that 😂 Anyhow experimenting helps and I’m always open to learning, even if sometimes it’s the hard way!

The most bright, big and beautiful parrot tulips I have this year 🤩 La Courtine is described as “Flamboyant” which it is but my mind jumps to tortilla chips and I instantly want chips and salsa in the sunshine just looking at these big beautiful blooms☀️ ❤️ I had to go all matchy matchy with my vest today in support of their bright yellow and red colors! Ive made quite the mess of our gravel area on the side of our house this past week! The view of the daffs is quite nice though 🤩 I’m so far behind on cutting daffodils that I decided this year I am allowing myself to just enjoy them as they are! 10 hr days of pulling and processing tulips has me spent on so many other chores I’ve let some things go as intended by nature, and that is a sigh of relief ❤️ Come visit me at the Uptown GH tomorrow for some beautiful spring flowers 10-1 💐
