It is with broken hearts and a profound sadness that we post this this evening...
Whimsy Arts and Crafts - A nurturing soul, creative haven and youthful spirit - passed away quietly on June 16th after a fifteen month battle with Covid-19. Whimsy lived 18 beautiful years in Framingham in the same place where she was born but traveled often to share her joy of crafting with surrounding communities. Growing up, she ran story art classes, workshops, summer camps, ladies nights out, baby showers, gem mining extravaganzas and so much more. Her 4,000 plus square foot home was open to all - creating a space where everyone was welcome and imaginations ran wild. She was popular with grandparents and grandchildren, dads and daughters, extended families and school groups. What she was most known for, however, was her ability to make everyone feel special and hosting the best craft birthday parties in the metrowest area. Her happiest times were spent easing the little stresses of everyday life for others and taking in the love, smiles and laughter around her.
Whimsy leaves behind her devoted mothers - Lori Karlsson, Carol Moy Daniels and Maya Elisayeff and her grandmother - May, Aunt Donna, siblings Rachel, Mikaela, Nick, Holly, Ava, Emma, Natalie and thousands of other children and their loving families. Condolences too to her dear friend Sandra who also lost her pride and joy, The Yoga Leaf to Covid just a few months earlier. Lives will be forever changed because of these amazing spirits and they will remain in hearts everywhere.
Goodbye viewings and final crafting sessions and events can be booked through mid July (google sign up page here https://bit.ly/2SHwvsf. Visitors to the studio at any one time will be limited. If you have specific questions, please email lori and carol at [email protected].
For those looking to bring a little more of Whimsy home, silent auction bids will be taken on the beloved playhouse. Central to childsplay since inception, this sturdy structure was actually intended for outdoor use. For the really adventurous, the mining sluice and the paint bar will also be looking for new homes. Proceeds will go to cover end-of-life care - including outstanding rent, utilities and other liabilities.
In lieu of flowers, Whimsy Kits-To-Go for birthdays, scouts and other events will continue to be offered at www.whimsyartsandcrafts.com Delivery area to be expanded and shipping soon to be added. An upgraded website will follow in the coming months. We know that Whimsy's final wish was to continue to bring joy to all those in need until such a time when physical reincarnation becomes possible.
18 years is a long time and saying goodbye (especially in this way) is not easy for us. Before we go, we look forward to filling the studio once again with the laughter and love of so many of our families. Please let us know your preferred date and time and we will try to accommodate.
