After many setbacks due to Covid, they’re finally married! I am so happy Heather + John trusted me not only to plan and design their big day, but also advocate for them throughout the postponement process and contract negotiations. Heather is a very busy teacher, and hired me because she was incredibly overwhelmed, and just too busy to plan. She allowed me to take her vision and run with it! 💜 I found this the other day and thought it really hit close to home. This tough time has made the future so unclear for many of us; career wise, financially, and especially pertaining to our wellness. If there is one thing good that this rough time has brought, I would say the amount of time it has forced us to spend with our families.

•
🍾 Granted, some days are harder than others and has me running for that first seltzer... but the amount of time I have spent with my children, as compared to before quarantine, has been incredibly rewarding. Maybe we all needed this time to slow down and focus on our children.
•
•
🚗 Living in a constant rat race, was it really doing good things for us and our kids? For our family, I can say that this time has let us dedicate that lost time to helping our daughter develop more speech and language and attentive skills, where she was originally lacking. She and I have formed a stronger relationship, and she is finally warming up to her baby brother. We’ve spent a great amount of time in the garden, looking forward to our summer and fall harvests. 🥒🥕🥬

So yes, it’s a scary time right now. We ALL want to get back to work. However, with the sun ☀️ shining and the weather temps going up, get outside with your babies! Run around in the sprinkler. Eat cucumbers, berries and melons. Collect ladybugs 🐞 and play in the dirt. Take this time to focus on building a relationship with your kiddos and make this summer one that they’ll never forget, in a good way! 🤗

✨ A couple things about me...

1️⃣ Like a true fu***ng crazy person, I do my best work between 4-6am. Therefore, the majority of my emails went out between 5-6am this morning. If your ringer was on, I’m truly sorry, but this is your warning for the future. Turn your ringer off when you go to bed 🤪💙

2️⃣ While sending those emails, I was listening to ‘The Wailers’ pandora radio, because I am pretending I’m on vacation in a Caribbean climate and that I have to do all of this before I lay by the pool and drink mezcal mules all day.

3️⃣ While laying by that imaginary pool, I’ll be working on my book and listening to the Queens,

4️⃣ All of this is fake, except #1. I’ll really be taking care of little domestic terrorists all day, counting down the minutes til it’s acceptable to drink that first mezcal mule, because,

‼️ Shoutout to in Urbana! I haven’t been able to find coconut milk for Savannah the past couple of times that I’ve gone to the grocery. Megan announced on Facebook that they had “shelf safe” coconut milk for purchase, along with other true necessities (AKA HOMEMADE BAGELS, YES) 😋

🌟 They have a super user friendly online ordering forum, and when you pick up, you just park out front, call and tell them you’ve arrived, and out they come! It was so nice since I had both of the babies with me!

🔥 Please keep small businesses in mind while searching for necessities over the next several weeks. We all are looking forward to having events, parties and get togethers in the future, and this key small business offers complete spreads, grazing boards and full blown catering options! 🧀🥖🍷

🌟 I said stay home. Do y’all listen? Negative. Guys, this is serious. We all need to do our part. Stop going to parks. Stop having sleepovers. Stay home, with your fam. Re-watch Ozarks, because it’s back on next week, and no one remembers what happened last season because it has been so long since we have watched it!

🍃Again, I’ll repeat, STAY HOME. If you need groceries, figure out who has what you need before venturing out. I ran out to our small local market today to pick up milk for my family, and then ran home... but going to spring break and boozing it up with 50 of your closest hipsters is not cool.

🍷What’s cool is facetiming your favorite bartender, while boozing at home, and venmoing them $10 for listening to you complain.

🥃 Today was tough. I don’t think my phone has rang this much in a long time. It was for cancelations of weddings and events. Postponements + people trying to reschedule and coordinate all of their vendors. This is hitting everyone very hard. 😢

✨ I want to reassure everyone. It will be ok. Maybe not today, not tomorrow, but in time. If your wedding has been drastically affected by this public health disaster, we will try to help you as best we can. We will work with your budget, and help you rebuild your dream wedding. Whether you need a planner, DJ, photog, florist, etc. We will do our best to help you make sure your event is everything you were expecting it to be 🤗

🍃 In the meantime, spend time with your family. Do a crossword puzzle. STAY OFF FACEBOOK (I am so guilty of this). Prep your garden, that you will eventually kill. ☀️ With all the scary headlines, instructions from government officials, and insanity at the stores, we are all forgetting the things that we can control. Being outside, spending time with our immediate family, spring cleaning our homes. These are just some examples of what you can do to help our healthcare facilities work within their means. It’s a beautiful day!
🌤 Relax in the sun
📚 Read a book
⛱ Play in the sandbox with the kids
🍺 Drink a beer
🌱 Prep the garden for all those veggies that you’ll plant, and probably not maintain

🌟 Dwelling on potential catastrophes isn’t healthy for your mental wellbeing.
‼️ However, completely ignoring the importance of social distancing is also reckless and endangers many people that you come in contact with.
🍔 Craving a burger or pizza from your favorite restaurant? Or your friend is working and you were planning on visiting them? Better idea: text them your carryout order, and tip them on that.
✨ We all have to do our part to, as they say, “flatten the curve”. More importantly, stay safe and have hope!

🌟 Setting the mood for your event is so important. Your lighting, centerpieces, back drops, and entryway all need to pull your guests in from first sight.

🌟 These open pane lanterns, with glass jar candles, give your tables that warm and romantic feeling that makes your guests feel relaxed and at ease.

Hi guys 👋🏽 I’m Ashley, and this is my husband, Tyler. This picture was taken less than two weeks after the birth of our daughter. 👶🏼
You may be saying, “You’re crazy. Who schedules their engagement photos two weeks after their due date?” 🤪
Well, it was really scheduled 3 weeks after my due date, but that’s not important. I did it. 🙋🏼‍♀️
❓Why❓
Because I was desperate to “Get it over with.” 🙀

Long story short, we had originally done engagement photos with another photographer. We didn’t mesh well, and decided to go our separate ways. 😥 I was super bummed, and on the search for a new photog. This was 9 months before our scheduled wedding reception. We had already gotten married on our baby-moon, but promised our moms that we would still have a huge shindig. I was not in to it. I was guarded. I didn’t want anything to do with this party anymore... that was until I met Jamie.
•
•
✨ I found Jamie on Instagram. I came across her page 🧜🏻‍♀️ and became engrossed in her dark, moody and adventurous style. Wait, but she lived in Idaho 🏞 I took a chance and contacted her, as I did with some other photographers. When I was able to connect with her on a phone call, I knew she was the one I needed for this wedding. Honestly, I did not care about this party. When I talked to Jamie, I was finally interested again. I can genuinely say that she saved us.
•
•
✨ When we shot these photos, I was so uncomfortable. I was in a little bit of pain. I still felt gross and was disappointed with my appearance. Can you tell? No. Because Jamie made us forget about everything. She had us take breaks. She made me eat snacks. She made me hydrate. She just talked with us, and took pictures while chatting with us. We weren’t overly posed. She didn’t make us do stupid crap. She just caught us in our natural state.

✨ I can not say enough, you need an advocate and guidance. Weddings are so stressful. There are millions of opinions, from people who are pushing their vision on to your day. You need someone to help you get out of your own way. I get it. Let us extend a helping hand! 🤝❤️
