Y Arts Center

Y Arts Center Located in scenic Downtown Frederick, The Y Arts Center is home to the Arts & Humanities Department of the YMCA of Frederick County.

Programming includes dance, music, theatre, and a variety of fine and creative arts. Thanks to the Ausherman Family Foundation, this beautiful space is home of the YMCA Arts Center! The large windows and beautiful wood floors bring in and reflect the natural light, making it the perfect home for the YMCA Arts & Humanities Department which includes dance, creative arts, theater, and music.

-Arts &

Humanities Summer Camps. Summer camps for children ages 4-15 including dance, musical theater, and fine arts.

-Arts & Humanities Programming. The Frederick community can explore and express their talents in a healthy and supportive environment for building creative skills. Classes help develop confidence and increased self-awareness as they participate in problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Classes include indoor and outdoor arts classes, music, and dance!

-A Maker’s Space. Local artists can teach their expertise on location in large rooms perfect for instruction. 3-D printing and other state-of-the-art technologies will be part of the Maker Space. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education will be incorporated into the curriculum as well.

-Community Meeting Spaces. The many large rooms and convenient location make it perfect for non-profit organizations, local and regional businesses, parent groups, and other social gatherings.

-Drop-in Arts Programming. With the Y Arts Center conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Frederick, the Y plans to hold “Date Night” drop-in style events. YMCA members will be able to drop off their children for an evening of arts and crafts while they dine downtown.

Curiosities invites you to explore the beauty in the bizarre! Through sculptural and 2D works, artists Julianna McNally and Emma Sandler bring a sense of childlike wonder and whimsy to
spark a sense of childlike wonder.

Emma Sandler is an artist from Frederick, Maryland, primarily working in clay and illustration. Themes that inform their work include folklore, anatomy, and traditions. Sandler received their
bachelor's degree of art and archaeology from Hood College and currently works at the Frederick Arts Council.

Juliana McNally is a Frederick based multimedia artist whose creativity was sparked by her family’s artistic influence. Her work spans drawing, painting, jewelry making, and upcycled art. Juliana’s themes of interest revolve around human anxieties, transformation, and finding beauty in overlooked materials.

Welcome, Adrien Gehring 🎨

Adrien is the new Artist in Residence (AIR) at the Y Arts Center and her journey is as colorful and inspiring as her artwork. Taught by her family to use art as a language for self-expression, Adrien has spent the first half of her life creating healing communities through worship and word. Now, she's turning her talents to painting, writing, and printmaking to explore and share healing connections in new ways.
