CATERING & EVENT CHEF
Canapés Catering is Frederick's premiere upscale caterer and we are seeking to add an experienced Catering Chef to our talented team. Canapés provides exemplary food and service to our client's and always aims to meet each individual client’s vision and needs. An ideal candidate is a hardworking, passionate, and communicative team player with a background in a commercial kitchen setting.
Responsibilities
• Specialize in providing food for weddings, corporate events, parties, family reunions, and more
• Prepare a wide variety of dishes based off clients custom menus
• Review paperwork provided from the sales staff
• Maintain extensive knowledge of menu offerings
• Plan and prioritize tasks to ensure work load is balanced and urgent situations are dealt with immediately
• Craft dishes for tastings in tandem with event coordinators to showcase food excellence
• Maintain a clean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
• Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity from production kitchen to offsite event
• Gather, organize, and package all of your food for safe transport
• Day of events, you will meet at the shop to finish food prep and hand off food to be loaded onto trucks before going to event site
• Work at unique locations across Maryland and Northern Virginia including mansions, private homes, museums, art centers, barns, vineyards and more
• On event sites you will lead the kitchen staff through the entirety of the event- from setting up the kitchen, to meal service, ending with cleanup
• Communicate with event staff and event coordinators to ensure operational needs are met
Requirements
• 2+ years of fine dining or catering experience in a high volume off-premise operation
• Must be able to work with hot boxes
• Possess strong culinary knowledge and experience with high-volume, batch cooking, recipe and menu development including gluten-free, paleo, vegan/vegetarian and specialty diet options
• Must be innovative, detail oriented, and quality conscious
• Ability to work on a team & communicate in a fast paced environment
• Ability to execute all daily operations to include but not limited to; prep production, line production, shift ex*****on, ordering, recipe adherence, and recipe development
• Flexible Schedule- must be available weekends during peak seasons
• Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
• MUST have reliable transportation to and from work and events
Job Details
• Shifts & Pay
• Full and Part-Time Positions are available
• Training Pay | $18+ for 2 to 4 weeks
• Position Pay ranges from $20 - $26 per hour.
• Pay is per hour. Overtime is possible.
Work Week Scenario
• Monday thru Thursday: Avg 8 hours
• Friday thru Sunday: Can run 4 to 12 hours
