The Frederick County Council Forum with the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce scheduled for 10:00 AM has been cancelled.

Please note that ERUCC and The Downtown Community Room follow FCPS guidelines for inclement weather.

Book Signing Event with Curious Iguana

Join Curious Iguana as they welcome D. Watkins back to Frederick on Thursday, July 7 at 7:00 pm in our Community Room! D. will discuss his newest book Black Boy Smile, a story of a Black boy who healed. This is a story not just for boys, but challenges anyone to reflect on the rippling effects of toxic masculinity on ourselves, our families, our peers, and ultimately our society. It is a story that rewrites the generalized notions of black male youth and presents it with the universal expression of a smile. D. Watkins is the New York Times bestselling author of four books. He is Editor-at-Large for Salon. His work has been published in the New York Times, New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and other publications. Watkins is a writer for the HBO series We Own This City. He is a college lecturer at the University of Baltimore and is the recipient of numerous literary awards.
