Colin and Abby met in high schooland started dating back in 2014. “Wegot engaged July 17, 2021. He plannedhis own fake birthday lunch with hismom to keep the surprise. We went toAnnapolis for lunch and walkeddown by the docks after lunch. Heproposed when his mom was "takinga picture" for us.”

Ninety people, plus a 14-personwedding party, helped the couplecelebrate their May wedding at CeresvilleMansion in Frederick. "Weweren’t super antsy to get everythingplanned the moment we got engaged.One day I randomly searched upwedding venues in Maryland andCeresville was the first I clicked on.We browsed the website and bothliked it enough we scheduled a visit tosee it in person. Even though we sawit in November, I knew it would beabsolutely perfect for a springwedding. We loved the classic feel ofthe mansion with a modern twist.Then and there we set a date and wenever looked back!“

“Overall it was just a fun time havingpeople we love celebrate with us.Friends and family we hadn’t seen in awhile came to celebrate and that’sirreplaceable,” the groom expressesabout their wedding day.

Get inspired this season by Angie & Doug's summer wedding at Dulany's Overlook.

Back in 2018, Angie was temporarilyworking at BWI Airport for the sameairline as Doug. “After a while westarted to talk and hang out and eventuallystarted to date. Unfortunately,after I completed my temporary workassignment in BWI, I had to returnback to Illinois to continue my careerwhich led us in a long distancerelationship. Spending most of ourweekends traveling back and forth tocontinue our relationship. I washoping to return back to BWI oncemy year assignment was completedbut Covid threw a bump in the roadback to Maryland. After my year wasup I decided I had to make the jumpand and another job and took the firstposition I could to relocate back toMaryland.” A year after moving backto Maryland, Angie and Doug boughttheir first home together in September2021, and the same place wherethey would get engaged shortly after.“We had his parents over for one ofthe first family dinners at their newhouse and Doug surprised me bygetting down on one knee in ourkitchen. He had asked my dad for myhand in marriage a while back. ObviouslyI had said yes!

One hundred and fifty people, plusa 8-person wedding party, includingtwo flower girls, helped the couplecelebrate their June wedding at Dulany’sOverlook in Frederick. "Our weddingday was absolutely perfect for us. Thewedding venue had enough "countryand outdoorsy-ness" to represent myhusband and enough glam for me. Iknew I wanted to have the wedding inJune as my parents and sister wereboth married in the month of June sofinding a venue with a Saturday inJune was something special I wantedto share with them.”

Their wedding venue was perfectbecause all parts of the wedding wereat the same location so family fromout of town didn't have to travel toofar to be a part of our entire day.

The wedding colors were grey andchianti. “We wanted to have ourwedding showcase both of us whichincluded some small Chicago detailsto represent my side of the family,having our late night snack be Chicagostyle hot dogs, and our party favorswere Garretts popcorn that had ourdogs face as the sticker. To show alittle tribute to Maryland we served"Orange Crushes" as a signature drink.

Victoria and Jake initially met inhigh school when Tory was actuallydating a friend of Jake’s. “We wouldhang out as a group along with manyother friends in our circle, so webecame acquaintances.” Everyone wenttheir separate ways a er high schooland many years later, during thesummer of 2016, both Tory and Jakewere in the same place at the sametime, Seacrets in Ocean City. “We wereboth lost and looking for our friends,but decided to stop looking for ourfriends and instead spent the rest of theday catching up and dancing. We havebeen inseparable since.”The couple got engaged in June 2022just days before Tory's 30th birthdayin Baltimore in front of the water withall of their family and close friendspresent (they were hidden at thetime). Jake had a portion of Barcocinarented out for everyone to celebratea er the proposal. “It was the perfectday/night celebrating with everyone.”

One hundred people, along with a12-person wedding party, helped thecouple celebrate their October weddingat Ceresville Mansion. “We choseCeresville Mansion, not only becauseof the extremely convenient locationfor ourselves, but a lot of our friendsand family who were still local to thearea. We loved how quaint, but elegantit felt. We liked the decor and thevintage, old mansion style it had, andwe felt it matched with the minimalisttheme we were going for.”The couple’s best friend from collegeoffciated our wedding. “He told firsthand stories as well as some from ourfamilies. We have been together a longtime so there was a lot of material toget through.”

The couple decided to brightenthings up with the bridesmaid dressesand flowers. There was no "real" colorscheme, but it was a lot of differentshades of purples, reds, pinks, andthen some white and yellows. The bride expressed some of herfavorite parts of the wedding wasbeing able to read their vows inprivate and spending some qualitytime together before the real partystarted. “Then, finally, the reception.The dance floor was completely fullfrom start to finish and being able tolook around and see all of our favoritepeople having a great time, smiling,laughing, and dancing was trulyunforgettable.”

Jordan and Matt met in high school in Mrs. Bernstein’s class. At the time of their wedding, they had been dating for just over 12 years. “We got engaged at the Georgetown Waterfront and our friends were waiting to surprise me afterwards at brunch.

One hundred and thirty people, along with over a 12-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their May wedding at Musket Ridge Golf Club. ”We chose our venue because it is absolutely gorgeous, and the sunset photos online were some of the prettiest we had even seen. Most of our family is from Maryland, so we wanted a venue that was convenient, plus Matt loves golf.The couple’s best friend from college officiated our wedding. He told first hand stories as well as some from our families. “We have been together a long time so there was a lot of material to get through.”

The bridesmaids wore light blue dresses, and the groomsmen wore navy suits. “Our bar sign was my favorite personal touch because it had a picture of our dog Laney on it.”One of the couple’s favorite part of their wedding was seeing everyone they love on the dance floor all night. “I lost an eyelash during ‘Mr. Brightside’ because we were dancing so hard, which was worth it. ”

Ashleigh and Jim met through amutual friend at a backyard BBQ onSouth Street in downtown Frederick.“We got engaged on October 9, 2021at the location of our second date,Washington Monument State Park inMiddletown.”

One hundred and twenty guests, alongwith 2-person bridal party, that includedthe bride’s two children, her 10-year-olddaughter and 15-year-old son, helped thecouple celebrate their July wedding atCitizens Ballroom downtown Frederick.

The couple chose Citizens Ballroom astheir venue for two reasons. One, thebride, who is a commercial real estateagent, sold the building in 2018. Priorto selling it, she took Jim through thebuilding for a tour. And two, Frederickhas played such a big part in the couplesrelationship. “We wanted to get marriedin downtown Frederick to share ourgreat city with our out-of-town guest!”

“Our overall wedding theme was‘minimalist elegance’”. e color schemewas black and white, with a little dusty/rose gold. The venue is so beautiful andblack/white brings out the elegance.“Being able to do everything in onelocation was great! I think our favoritepart was the cheeseburger toss we did atthe end of the night! Plus, anotherfavorite and unique part of our weddingwas choosing to do a confessional insidethe vaults, as opposed to a photo booth! e videos have been great to watch!”

Ashleigh is the vice president atMacRo Commercial Real Estate inFrederick and Jim is the assistantprincipal at Smithsburg High School. e couple currently reside in Frederick.
