Summer is ALMOST here. Get inspired by Julia & Jacob's wedding at Turf Valley Resort.

Julia and Jacob (Jake) met in college at California University of Pennsylvania.“We each played on a sports teamand met through mutual friends.” They got engaged at Linganore Winery. It is Julia’s favorite winery in the area. “We were sitting outside listening tomusic and drinking our favorite winewhen he proposed.”

Two hundred and twenty guests, along with a 18-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their September wedding at Turf ValleyResort. “We wanted a venue with beautiful exterior and interior spaces, an all-inclusive wedding package, and a supportive staff. Turf Valley was perfect for us. The coordinators were so helpful and responsive. The foodand bar packages were exactly whatwe wanted. And we were able to customize the space to accommodateeverything we wanted on our day.”Although it rained on their wedding day, they found so many unique ways to get photographs outside at the venue.

The couple wanted to have a fun atmosphere with good food and drinks. An open bar (with many options),space for a photo booth, and Italiancookie table were important to them.“We had a packed dance floor from start to finish. Dancing at the end of the night with all of our friends and family surrounding us was so special and memorable.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVETO OTHER COUPLES WHO ARE PLANNING A WEDDING, ESPECIALLYTHOSE IN FREDERICK?“There are so many amazing venues and vendors in Frederick and the surrounding areas. Get inspired for your BIG DAY and check out Camille and Travis' spring wedding at 9030 Rockland Estates.

Seventy-four guests, along with a 13-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their April wedding at 9030 Rockland Estates. “Once we found our venue, we were really energized to plan our wedding. It’s a beautiful property with gorgeous amenities that allowed our entire wedding weekend to be comfortable and relaxed. Amanda McCoy, who is both an owner of the property and our day-of coordinator, was very reassuring during the planning process and had so many incredible vendors to recommend. Her handling of the day and logistics allowed us to enjoy time the day with each other, friends, and family.”

One of the couple’s favorite parts of their weddings was planning it together. “It’s an important day with lots of decisions and details. It can be overwhelming. Working together on this big project requires good communication and decision making as ateam, which are both needed in marriage. We laughed a lot together during our wedding brainstorming sessions. We discussed outrageous details, things we would never actually follow through on, but it was always a fun conversation.” The couple decided to take dance lessons for their big day.“It was a wonderful way to spend time together and learn a new skill.

The day of the wedding was overcast.“We had breakfast together, just the twoof us, at J’s Diner in Hagerstown to havesome relaxed time together before thefestivities started. The day went by in a flash, but the expertise of our vendors and the love of our friends and family all came together to make the whole experience absolutely fantastic. We have only great memories from the weekend and reminisce often.”

Engaged and planning for your big day? Get inspired by Real Weddings. Check out Kia & David's August wedding at Cortland Mansion.

The couple's engagement was a sweet and quiet one. David and Kia had been dating for several years and marriage was definitely a topic in many of their discussions. Blending their families was one of their future goals as a couple. David and his son DJ were visiting Kia and her daughter Laila for the weekend. On this special afternoon, David was helping Kia hang a painting on the wall. While he was on the floor he asked Kia to help him by holding the hammer. When she reached out her hand to grab the hammer, David placed the box in Kia's hand and began speaking on his love for her, their love for each other and their children. David expressed his desire for Kia to become his wife and she happily and proudly accepted his proposal.

One hundred fifty guests, along with a 10-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their August wedding at Cortland Mansion. The venue was known to the bride as she was familiar with the area and felt it was the perfect choice for her special day.The couple’s favorite moments of their big day was time with family and David’s son who gave a toast that was not only touching, but memorable for the couple. One of Kia’s highlights was the coordinated dance routine with her brother – it really got the party started!

ADVICE TO COUPLES WHO ARE GETTING MARRIED: Make sure to select good quality vendors who you feel connected with and that understand what your vision is. They should not only make you feel comfortable, but that your wedding truly matters to them.

Did you see Lynsie and Justin's fall wedding Riverside on the Potomac? Check it out and get inspired for your BIG DAY?

LYNSIE & JUSTIN
Lynsie and Justin met in high school running on the high school track team and began dating after college. The couple broke up for three years and did not speak at all for seven years. They reunited later and began spending time together at the gym, playing kickball, and enjoying common interests. After some time re-building the friendship, the couple got back together and engaged.

One hundred thirty guests, along with a 16-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their September wedding at Riverside on the Potomac, located in Leesburg, Virginia. The couple grew up in this area and their parents live near the venue. The venue is rather large with lots of pretty florals and land. The venue is right on the Potomac River. The daisies were a favorite of the brides and were chosen as the flower for the bouquets and decor throughout the venue as the bride's father nicknamed her "Daisy"and "Daisy Heart". The bride's father passed away in 2011 and therefore the meaning of the daisy represented her fathers attendance at the wedding and the bride's bouquet had a picture of her father so she could feel as if she was walking down the aisle with him.

The couple also made a lot of their own decor such as the backdrop, co****le boards and all of their table decor. The groom is a competitive corn hole player, hence the handmade co****le boards. The couple had one set of boards to play on during the wedding and one set of boards was for the guest book. The dessert bar was also amazing –the wedding cake, cupcakes, cookies and chocolate covered strawberries made for a delicious spread of options. A natural favorite was the couple'sdog, Wrangler. Wrangler wore a navy tux from Etsy and stole the heart of every guest.

Get inspired for your BIG DAY by Morgan & Nate's wedding at Glenview Mansion.

MORGAN & NATE
Morgan and Nate met in August 2015. “My best friend Alex met him earlier that year, but we hadn’t crossed paths until the summer when we all decided to go out one night. Neither of us was looking for a relationship, but we clicked almost immediately. Little did we know our new friendship would blossom into so much more. It didn’t take long for us to realize we were soulmates.” Nate proposed to Morgan on their seventh anniversary of meeting each other at James River State Park in Virginia. “We spent the weekend there with friends and had planned to go to a nice dinner that evening. Earlier that morning, Nate found a beautiful overlook that looked out over the river. He suggested we stop there at sunset before dinner to take pictures. While our friends were ‘taking our picture’, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely surprised! It couldn’t have been more perfect.”

Ninety guests, along with a very intimate bridal party, including Morgan’s best friend Alex as the matron of honor and her husband Austin as Nate’s best man, Morgan’s niece Mia as the flower girl and her nephew Kayden as the ring bearer, helped the couple celebrate their June wedding at Glenview Mansion. Their wedding was held outside the mansion in their stunning gardens during the summer heat wave. With that in mind, the couple made sure their ceremony was short and sweet. Nate’s uncle officiated the wedding because they wanted someone who knew them on a personal level. “As Christians, our main focus was a ceremony centered on our faith which included a bible reading done by my brother, Ryan. We had our DJ play classical versions of modern-day songs, which gave it a sophisticated, but fun ambiance.”

Morgan and Nate’s theme was ‘Summer Garden’. “We had a lot of colorful flowers that featured different shades of pink, orange, blue and purple. A lot of our wedding was “DIY,” like our décor, flower wall backdrop, and flower box wedding sign. We even did our own florals! It was a lot of work, but we loved being able to make everything exactly how we wanted with our own personal touches.” The couple has a mutual love of nature, so they gave their guests native wildflower seeds as their wedding favor, embedded in party favor cards at their seats. “We loved the idea of them growing their own flowers after our garden themed wedding. Also, because my father passed away in 2021, my mom let me wear the first ring he ever gave her on our wedding day. It helped to make it feel like he was there with us.”
